That second remix particularly is just too much for me! Too far away. I mean, I can hear it in a club though. But you know, most of the music in clubs!!!! No thank you... The thing is, when you take the single, these remixes and some variation in material on the album, there's a big potential audience for Aiden out there: I really do think that.
Not that I'd know.
I suppose, had he come to this another way, you could ease into any genre more easily, but coming from the X Factor, you need the first single to be relatively commercial, because even if you want the past to remain exactly there, it's not just the music being good, but a level of the masses liking it becomes relevant to people's views of your success? I think, anyway..?????????? Do you?
Then, these gigs: trying to introduce Aiden to an entirely new audience: I think it's a very clever approach and must've taken a lot of thought: I mean I am a bit worried we're not wanted as fans, but likely the aim is to try to draw in new people and get them to discover Aiden as he is now in this way rather than to come at it with their preconceptions? I'd think it must be a bit scary for Aiden to head out to perform at such? But, equally, I also think that all of us are music lovers and it is that that we loved most about Aiden from whenever it was that first we loved his voice and what he did with songs... so...
I hope (and it does feel as though) it's all the right way to forge a career that can have longevity . It does seem all a very clever plan indeed :):).
I am seldom a fan of remixes though, sigh. But at least the glass telephone in the first amused me - literal giggling (I can see the merit in the first one even if not to my taste, but the second.... .. I don't know - stuff like this all just sounds the same to me? Now I sound like I'm 83 (and I rhymed equally! Oh dear! I am too uncool for Aidenmusic, evidently!)
You can hear how those Is This Love bits are Aiden now in the first though. Have they slowed his voice in the second??? (I only listened once)
Thank you! *hugs back* I feel like I've had to eat my words slightly from the other day when I said the secret gigs were a good thing. They are, but not in Southampton! If he plays Southampton again, he needs to inform me personally.
as far as I was aware he was signed right away, I really am so pleased they believed in him enough to let him take all that time to work out his style and sound.
And so sorry about the gig He only popped up in my search feed just before he was due to go onstage, the website only said "special guest" right up to when he performed. The pictures are amazing though!
I still think these low key warm ups are a great idea, but I wouldnt be too happy if I found out I could have gone and it wasnt announced on time, got me thinking where I could acceptably get to at short notice!
Those pictures are stunning. Interesting interview, confused about the signed straight after bit. Two clips from the interview were played on Fearne show during the entertainment news.

Aw, don't worry, it seems like they were determined to keep it quiet. Although I did twitter search 'aiden grimshaw southampton' and somebody had tweeted about two or three hours before the event saying he was rumoured to be playing The Joiners. Also, that picture of him in the CAT boots was quite clearly taken in a spot I drive past almost every day - absoloutely kicking myself that I didn't focus on the background!! (I was obviously, uh, otherwise distracted... )
All I can hope is that he enjoyed playing The Joiners as it's such an awesome venue (lots of artists play there before making it big!) and decides to come back one day... and this time actually announces it!

She's obviously the "big diva vocalist" that we've been hearing about on "Curtain Call"... They must've been filming that "Album Chart Show Introduces..." thingy with that director guy that tweeted about Aiden a while back.
TRACK OF THE WEEK : Is This Love by Aiden Grimshaw. Look who it is! It’s only Aiden Grimshaw off The X Factor – remember, he was a bit intense and starey but very good in a brooding kind of way? Well, he’s been signed to RCA, and this is his debut single. The first play was through NYLON magazine’s website (trendy!), and the video for this track features a house party (current!) but overall it’s a solid 8/10. It’s a little David Gray, a little Massive Attack, with enough bite to keep it interesting.

The Irish Times culture section music reviewer people a massively critical and picky when it comes to music so this is a pretty big triumph IMO.:D

What?!
Freaking out a little bit right now, but I'm assuming he's already played. This is the second time he's come to Southampton and I've missed him.
Edit: And it was at The Joiners?! That place is amazing!
It was a support slot for Niki & the Dove.
So upset I didn't know about it. It's literally just down the road from where I live.

Great article, thanks for the link. So he was signed immediately after XF?!
Still bummed about missing the gig last night, though these have cheered me up a little bit:

Hello btw, had to set up new account as it's been so long since I posted here, couldn't remember password:o
Hope everyone heading to Brighton has a great time!
Ah, for those that didn't get to hear Track 2 from Kingston before it disappeared, it appears here as Track 1
Lots of media stuff coming through now, we really have gone from one extreme to the other
It seems Aiden has done a guest blog for Farland and listed 5 songs he's currently listening to http://www.thefarland.tv/guest-blog-aiden-grimshaw/
A couple of pics here

And another mention on Radio 1 yesterday at 2hrs 21mins on Fearne Cotton (Ali Baba's fave presenter ) http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/bigscreen/radio/episode/b01h5h57/
All seems positive still (with the exception of Paloma the other night)
Brilliant
#notoben at the end though
Paloma seemed to come across like someone wasn't particularly a fan of music though so I would take her opinion with a massive grain of salt.:p
