I think I'll go for one from each of the last few decades, as just having 1 is impossible -

    Tom Waits - Closing Time
The Jesus and Mary Chain - Psychocandy
    Deus - Worst Case Scenario
Frightened Rabbit - The Midnight Organ Fight

Balls. How did I miss that one off my list? I knew I'd forgotten something...

:) Love loads of the albums people mentioned so far.

    some of mine would be

    Goldfrapp - Felt Mountain
    REM - Green
    Beck - Sea Change
    The Cure - Disintegration
    Fever Ray - Fever Ray
    Björk - Medulla
    Duran Duran - Rio
Morrissey - Ringleader of the Tormentors
The Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream
    Marilyn Manson - Mechanical Animals
Blondie - Eat to the Beat
    Sparks - Lil Beethoven
IamX - Kingdom of Welcome Addiction
    Damien Rice - O
    Placebo - Black Market Music
    Gary Numan - Jagged
Hellogoodbye - Would It Kill You?
    Portishead - Third

Not the most upbeat choices most of those but :p:o

Interesting. Médulla's probably my least favourite Björk album. I think most of it is just pretentious ramblings! Haha. Mine would probably be Debut or Volta

It's between Ryan Adams - Gold and The Verve - Urban Hymns. Push comes to shove I'd give it to Gold (only just mind)

Appetite For Destruction. I don't think there will ever be another hard-rock album as accomplished as this.

Shakira - Donde Estan Los Ladrones?

This record opened my mind to the world of music and culture, and has had a profound impact on my life. Not to mention every song is incredible and flawlessly written.

Others that would fill out the top 5

Alanis Morissette - Jagged Little Pill
    Angela Aki - HOME
Meat Loaf - Bat Out of Hell
Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not

    War of the Worlds
Bat Out Of Hell by Meat Loaf
    World Machine by Level 42
Fever by Kylie Minogue. Nothing to do with quality (although it was a good album) but it was out at a time in my life when I was having a blast so it brings back very happy memories for me.

Bit of a mixture there. :p
