[news]Bad cinema behaviour to be targeted by 'Ninja Task Force'[/news]
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-19622445

Anyone else seen this yet? Basically a cinema in London has some volunteers who dress up in black body suits and sneak around a screen telling people off for talking, using their phones and just being annoying to others in the screen.

In my view it's just a PR stunt and is stupid. I don't want to be in a screen where people in body suits are sneaking around. It would just be too distracting seeing them moving about in your field of vision.

My cinema do it the right way in my view. A member of staff normally enters the screen twice during the film with night vision binoculars and quietly stands at the side and scans the audience for people causing problems (and of course filming). Then they walk up to the top and down again checking.

If anyone is causing problems you see members of the audience letting the staff member know as they do their rounds. Or if you quickly run out (which no one wants to do to be honest) and tell them, they are normally good at stopping the problem or getting security to escort the problem maker out.

How long before we get someone in the cinema dressed in black killing someone and can't be identified because they were wearing black and was hard to spot in a darkened room? The idea of it is just silly. They have ushers who stand at the back or the doors for most of the film and they have torches, why can't they shine a torch in the area or face of someone being annoying as a warning. If it doesn't stop, he/she goes up to them and removes them from the screen. Simple.

Big Brother says "Enjoy your film.....we're watching to ensure that you do".

I can't think of a more comfortable experience to relax on an evening out.

Those ushers are not in attendance for most of the film, many of them double up serving popcorn and drinks or even starting the film. I haven't seen an usher reprimand anyone in a cinema for the best part of 10 years now. I like the idea of cinema ninjas and if they feel the need to slaughter a particularly annoying teenager, then suits me fine. So long as it's done quietly.

Sign of the times but I was thinking exactly the same after reading the thread title and the first sentence of the OP.

Yes, because the next step to take after shushing someone in a cinema is to obviously run them through with a ninja sword.

Well, as long as (a) the right people get killed and (b) it's done quietly...
