James Last - any fans here?
I was in the charity shop and for £1 I picked up six James Last tapes:). Well I have been having them on nearly every day when I come in from work. I'm loving the funky beats and refreshing clear sound. I have had a couple of his albums in the past but I did not enjoy them as much as this crop. I put a few clips fom my tapes on my YT channel http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EDT-sz7aIfU&feature=youtu.be but I can't seem to find these cassettes on CD.
So, anyone here enjoy James's music - and any pointers to some funky albums appreciated.

He's a great musician and I like some of his music, but he is no Loose Ends, Slave or Aurra (Deja).
Loose Ends - Hangin' On A String

Stepping Out- Slave

Probably true that James Last didn't do much funk (not sure if that is the same as funky) but some jazz musicians do.
Shakatak - Down on the Street
Herbie Hancock - hang up your hang ups ( real funky!)
Jamiroquai - Virtual insanity
The Crusaders and Randy Crawford - Street Life
You do realise that James Last wasn't taken very seriously even by mainstream music fans during the 60s/70s? All these non-stop dancing albums were considered essentially elevator musak at best. Maybe you have rediscovered something we didn't hear the first time but I used to hate this stuff.
I was the same. I only remember the dodgy sing along albums but what do you think of the clips I uploaded? Well at least they are different I suppose.
*This* is different
