They both do very good, free versions.
Free 'trial' version available at http://www.grisoft.com/ww.download-trial
www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner
The freebie anti-virus programmes are very limited so i would definately purchase a full programme.
This is the link to the Avast site. It is good, free, updates itself twice a day. I have used it for years and am virus free
You can also download a free trial version of Kapersky. Its the only thing that got rid of my trojan horse virus a couple of weeks ago.
It is an excellent anti-virus programme (one of the best i have used so far)
It is now avaliable in the UK from most good PC stores (including PC world for around £15)
I am amazed at how many PC users are still putting anti-virus security at the bottom of their lists by downloading freebies such as AVG/ Avast/Avira etc...which have very limited protection.
Anti-virus software is the main key for PC protection, and if you use a freebie - you may as well not use one at all because most FREE anti-virus software does not give FULL protection...and what protection it gives is very limited.
AVG 8 claims to protect against spyware - which is utter rubbish because it doesn't! (run a professional 'paid' anti-spyware programme with 'real time' protection and the results will be obvious)
What is £15 - £20 a year for a decent anti-virus programme?
Freebies are FREE for one reason...and one reason only.
Online scanner and free 30 day trial here.
We do the mailshots for this anti-virus program through a local reseller.
It always gets a huge number of enquiries, particularly from schools and colleges. Can't comment on the number of sales they actually get of course, as we only pass the enquiry database back to them.
