New Phone, what should I buy?

Hello,
I need to get a new phone since my Wildfire is being really laggy and generally annoying.
My budget is £300, maybe a little bit higher if necessary.
I am thinking about getting the Galaxy SII. It'll be used for texting, occasional phone calls and light internet use (not games really, I own an iPod touch so I tend to use that).
Decent battery would be great too. I'd rather not be charging every night. Also I can not read my Wildfire in the sun at all, so I need to find shade If I want to use it - which is very annoying.
Any suggestions?

+1 for the Galaxy Nexus. Excellent phone and will be supported for quite some time !
A few place saying the battery life is awful, but some are saying it is great. Apparently it depends on where you get it? how is it in the UK?

Tesco sell it on pay as you go for 99.00.

Tesco also have the Samsung Galaxy Y Pro on contract starting from £7.50 a month for 24 months.

Tesco also have sim only deal. But some the sim only are only for a short time.

I hope that this helps. And please post back on this thread and tell us what smartphone you eventually buy.
