Well, Ed's a goner, a question of who's replacing him:

- Chuka Ummuna
- Yvette Cooper
- Dan Jarvis
- Andy Burnham
- Other

They're the four the BBC keep bringing up over it, so lets assume it's one of them.

It'll need to be a new face. Cooper, via her husband, is just far too connected to both Gordon Brown and Ed Miliband leaderships - both of which have ended in disaster.

It's not that I'm massively impressed by Ummuna, Jarvis, or anyone else. But they have to move on to the next generation now.

None of those mentioned in the OP can win a GE.
Kermit the Frog would have a better chance.

Because a certain percentage of the population are seemingly pretty shallow, they need someone who looks good, speaks well, doesn't have a posh accent or a local accent but just speaks plainly, doesn't have a lisp or speech impediment, doesn't have any weird jaw dropping idiosyncrasies, speaks with conviction and passion and gets their point across clearly, someone who the people can identify with, someone trustworthy, and someone with positive policies that will work for everyday people to bring prosperity and happiness to all....

Ok, I probably got a bit carried away towards the end there, but you get the general gist.

I always thought Burnham was decent and a better alternative to either Miliband, but tbh I think they need to move away from any of the Shadow bunch for something very new, don't expect them to though.

    Chuka Ummuna or
    Yvette Cooper

    I think Chuka Ummuna

If they want to win an election they dont choose Ummuna. He is a very divisive figure, he wont win over opposition voters. They should learn from Ed, picking a leader to hold up you core support doesnt work

Andy Burnham. He is the only one that can communicate well. Without boring you or patronising you. Also he is the only one that seemed to approach the SNP issue with respect for the Scottish electorate.

Unions will want Burnham. Cooper would be their best shot I feel.

Surely Burnham will always be tainted by Mid-Staffs ?

Needs someone new but who that is I'm not sure

There won't be a new Labour leader until there's a new New Labour defined. Labour under Miliband has become an omnishambles of tired ideologies.

Labour no longer look out for the poor and vulnerable, they exploit them for political ends. The world has moved on from when despot leaders control the thoughts and lives of the people.

They have a struggle on their hands, as no one stands out as a strong leader. I think they need to wait and think very carefully before selecting anyone.

Chuka Ummuna - the English Obama. The public will lap him up.

Please let it be Chuka. With Chuka chucking around the racist red card every five minutes at anyone he can stick it onto, he will alienate the whole country against him and Labour. If Diane Abbott is his deputy, then it would be even more amusing.

Yes, he's far more prime ministerial than his loyal brother.

    They just don't get it.
