Wasn't there some stupid vacuous remark by Tweedy during last week's programme making this comparison? Must say I was surprised she'd even heard of the Beatles, thought her musical knowledge consisted solely of songs recorded by Girls Aloud. Oh, and "Karnyay" of course............

Yes there was. I rolled my eyes at that moment and just thought "silly girl."

Yep, silly effing goon:rolleyes: If there were prizes given out for the most stupid comments given on Xfactor, Cheryl would win hands down.

Anyone who says Wand Erection are the new Beatles......wash your mouth out!

The Beatles sang live, played their own instruments live, wrote classic music that is still going strong nearly 50 years later, and are icons of the music industry.

Wand Erection will disappear within a year. Only one of them can sing, one of them specialises in repeating the last two words the singer just sang, and the rest of them mime to a track.

I'm very much enjoying the oh-so-earnest outrage to what is so clearly a tongue-in-cheek thread with lots of amusing tongue-in-cheek replies. Let it go and enjoy the banter people!

The Beatles were OK but people in the 60s weren't very sophisticated. They didn't have computers and telephones and stuff.

To be honest, I don't think the Beatles were that good - I don't think they would have made it past judge's house. I suppose they might have been the wildcard. So The Beatles are about as good as Diva Fever. One Direction are better.

They didn't have telephones in the 60s?

    You cannot be serious?:D

    That's what I was thinking.

The OP is clearly being facetious: at least I hope so, anyway!!!:D

OP I think you forgot to mention Zain, whose strong, tuneful and charismatic vocals mark him out as the one to eventually have the biggest solo career of them all (after ten years of record breaking success as a group of course).

I am so glad to have lived long enough to have seen the invention of the telephone in 1876 (that makes me 124 years old) and the digital computer in 1944. In the sixties, though, we had to use two baked bean cans and a bit of string. Muppet!:)

That is the funniest OP I have ever seen.
How can u compare One Direction with Beatles? Thats stupidity.
Compare them with any current young boybands rather than The Beatles.

They obviously have the talent, and they are prompting the same levels of hysteria we saw when the Beatles were at the height of their fame. I can see Liam becoming the new Paul McCartney and Harry the new Lennon.

you're such an idiot...sorry but you are

Actually, when they started the Beatles were pretty raw - in the early days they basically just shuffled around and mumbled a bit. I know - I was there, and I'm a musician. Of course, they soon got it together, and eventually came to rule the world.

    So yes, well done OP.
