Did Barbara Windsor's Peggy meet Sharon before 2001?

We all remember this scene. But I think Sharon left before Peggy arrived. She did meet the original Peggy though.

Yes Barbara Windsor's Peggy met Sharon in 1994 after Sharongate they hated each other back then including Peggy slapping Sharon in the square.

Iirc, Babs' very first appearance as Peggy was when she swooped in to visit Phil in hospital after the Sharongate fallout.

Yes Sharon was married to her son Grant so they were mother and daughter in law. Letitia Dean acted alongside the original Peggy Mitchell Jo Warne in the early 90's, and Barbara Windsor in 1994/1995(?) so long before 2001. Given her three substantial stints in EE I'd imagine there are very few if any EE legends Sharon has not had any onscreen time with.

P.s I think it's pretty obvious from this scene in 2001 that the two women had crossed paths before

The OP wasn't asking if they had crossed paths before, just if BARBARA'S Peggy had been onscreen with Sharon before (Peggy was once played by a different actress).

They shared screen time for several months from late 1994. Windsor first turned up to see Phil in Hospital following Grant beating him up because of sharongate, October 94. Sharon was missing for about 3 months following signing her divorce papers but Peggy was firmly entrenched in Walford by the time sharon came back Spring 95 and then they were both in until late summer when Sharon properly left.

Yes I eagerly watched Babs' debut. She was initially rather dowdy in a pink Crimplene pant suit and a plain hairstyle to pop in and visit Phil. She glammed up later on of course.

I think they purposely made her dowdy to match the original Peggy. Still one of the craziest recasts ever attempted, which worked against all odds!
