Just watched the video on NASA's website. Looks quite convincing. Perhaps another rover mission is in order. Pity they couldnt redirect the most recent one there.
Here's the precise link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-14408928 "The best explanation we have for these observations so far is flow of briny water, although this study does not prove that," said planetary geologist and lead author Professor Alfred McEwen of the Lunar and Planetary Laboratory, University of Arizona.
Similar patterns have been observed in other craters so this could be a widespread phenomenon. Existing probe studies have indicated that there are significant sub-surface concentrations of water ice at the polar regions and elsewhere on the planet so it's either brine water with a lower freezing point or there might, for instance, be some low level geothermal activity left.
Whilst interesting, I am not sure that it definitely means that simple life is present on Mars and much more study will be required over future decades.
And the sight which met my eyes was that of a slender, girlish figure, similar in every detail to the earthly women of my past life... Her face was oval and beautiful in the extreme, her every feature was finely chiseled and exquisite, her eyes large and lustrous and her head surmounted by a mass of coal black, waving hair, caught loosely into a strange yet becoming coiffure. Her skin was of a light reddish copper color, against which the crimson glow of her cheeks and the ruby of her beautifully molded lips shone with a strangely enhancing effect.
She was as destitute of clothes as the green Martians who accompanied her; indeed, save for her highly wrought ornaments she was entirely naked, nor could any apparel have enhanced the beauty of her perfect and symmetrical figure.

Unless it turns out to be Princess Dejah Thoris then I suspect my boat will not be rocked.

In all seriousness, if it turns out to be true then it's very big news indeed.
...in what way ?

That means that in the past, Mars might have had the potential to be wetter, warmer and so more amendable to early life. As it is today, Mars is like an Antarctic desert http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=antarctic+desert&hl=en&biw=1024&bih=571&prmd=ivns&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=Ies6TrgJzIWFB7Pjwf4B&sqi=2&ved=0CCYQsAQ, with a very thin poisonous atmosphere and high levels of surface radiation (no ozone layer or significant planet-wide magnetic field).

If aren't able to figure it out for yourself, then there's no need to explain it to you as you probably wouldn't understand it anyway.
Exciting news though, paves the way for exploration.
