Filming has just started on series seven of Doctor Who in Cardiff. This series will see the last days of the Ponds with Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill returning for their final, rollercoaster voyage with The Doctor.
Amy and Rory have been at the Doctor's side for more than two series but what will he do after their heartbreaking departure?
On returning for his third series as the Eleventh Doctor, Matt Smith says: "It's thrilling and exciting to be back and working with two of my closest friends."
Karen Gillan adds: "It's just brilliant to be back on the TARDIS with Matt and Arthur for our craziest adventures yet."
Plus new guest stars confirmed so far include David Bradley, Rupert Graves and Mark Williams.
Series seven will then see a dramatic turn of events when The Doctor meets a new friend. Prepare yourselves for thrills, adventures and dramatic surprises as the show builds towards its enormous, climactic 50th anniversary year. Fourteen big, blockbuster-movie episodes - each a brand new epic adventure featuring new monsters and some familiar foes as you've never seen them before.
Doctor Who is a BBC Cymru Wales Production for BBC One.
Indeed....from what I've heard it's the Cybermen in drag! They're going to wear big blonde wigs and pink frilly dresses as they work in a hairdressers that's hell bent on taking over the world!
I didn't enjoy season 5 at all but season 6 was much better and so I am looking forward to season 7.
I feel bad saying this, but I am particularly looking forward to Matt Smith getting a new companion. Amy and Rory just haven't worked for me. Their story is so complicated that I don't really empathise with them.
I am hoping the new companion is a bit more down to earth.
That press release seems to confirm no 2 parters in this season then?
Yes that certainly seems to be the implication. I hope that it's not entirely the case though, as very often the two parters are the more satisfying stories due to the slightly slower pacing.
Is that 14 episodes were getting for the 50th anniversay
It's a bit vague but I'm hoping we can connect "Fourteen big, blockbuster-movie episodes" "as the show builds towards its enormous, climactic 50th anniversary year" as meaning this.

I am intrigued by this...do we think then that episodes may be full hours long perhaps rather than two-parters etc.
It is so exciting but also very vague at the same time....like what do they mean about "climatic" being used here....climatic means the end? but its the 50th Anniversary we are headed for and everything! so hmmm.
But i am excited....ever since series 4 the show has just managed to surpass the previous series by a landmile. Cannot wait to see what series 7 offers.
But i will miss The Ponds when they leave i do feel 11,Amy, Rory, River will definitely be my favourite era of the show. But also so excited to have Matt act alongside new companion(s) too

OOOH intriguing. I do hope we get cliffhangers aplenty too...it was a massive thing of what i loved about series 6 that idea of really having a flow into storylines by having one massive cliffhanger leading into the next storyline.
I do hope they keep them and place them across series 7...its always exciting.

Or if they really are 14 separate stories, they could occasionally signal the next one at the end, as they did with Churchill in The Beast Below. I love that Hartnell-era technique. Where are we, Doctor? ... I don't know, my dear, but there's something gobsmackingly terrifying out there. ... (end credits)

Multiple climaxes are possible.
Climatic as in the finale will be wet and windy with persistent drizzle from the East:D

It would be a nice surprised if the foes in question were the

Naughty CoalHill!
Calm down Granny!!:D
Yes, its true, its a rumour:D:D:D
I think the rumour came from a lorry with a Tardis and two daleks strapped to the back being recently spotted headed south on the M6.
The word was out on another forum and soon there was a sighting and a photo.

...unfortunately it was soon established they were heading down from the Blackpool illuminations to a light show in Nottingham !!

So it seems to be just a rumour.
Haven't a clue what the foe is myself. Perhaps something really abstract like evil bankers or mutant space hoppers ?
