Lazer tablet

Anyone knows who makes a tablet under the name Lazer name?

Bought it in Portugal as mine broke from a large retailer, but while it works fine it will not run many apps which happily ran on my older tablet. Been in touch with the retailer but they won't tell me.

It's got a weird screen resolution. That might be why some apps don't run on it. If the apps are programmed to run on a specific screen size (or set of screen sizes), that might explain that. The screen resolution of that device isn't a common size that I've seen for either Android phones or tablets.

You are probably right, as it uses a newer OS then my old one and is faster yet many apps won't run on it.

This site suggests the manufacturer was AnyDATA Corporation

Thanks, I will email them tomorrow see if they reply.

Do you think I can use an app to alter the screen resolution?

No, the screen resolution is the number of pixels in the screen. It's a hardware thing. If you were an experienced programmer, you might be able to root the device, and create a custom ROM which reports your screen resolution as something other that what it is, but if you don't know what you're doing, I'd leave well alone, otherwise you could end up with a tablet that doesn't work at all.

In your position, given that it was cheap anyway, I'd put it down to a poor choice and look at replacing it with a better known branded device like a Hudl which will likely run all your apps.

Good advice, buy something decent, thanks.

Someone said on another thread here, you do sort of get what you pay for. There are a couple of exceptions in both phones and tablets, for example the Tesco Hudl has decent specs and is cheap, but there have been a good few reports of screen failures. The upside is that Tesco is replacing them without argument, and if it happens soon after purchase, you can just walk into a store and swap it.

Yeah, most devices have teething problems. I think the N7 had a screen and GPS issues and Kindle fire had screen, wifi and USB port issues reported. Good news with buying from Amazon and Tesco (and to a lessor extent Google) is that they generally replace without questions.

I know it is true but we only use the tablet when traveling, most of the time it is just in a cupboard unused. The first one I bought was £52 of ebay and was perfectly OK, a bit slow but had 8gbs of storage 1gb of memory 9" screen and ran 99% of the apps.

The lazer if I recall was €130, larger screen, less storage, faster processor

Next time I need one I buy a better one, from the UK so I can take it back if I need to
