Has Kiss 101 (Somerset) increased it's signal strength towards the East?

Does this station have its own news and ads now, or does it rebroadcast Kiss London in its entirety?

The was no "kiss 101" text on the RDS of 101 or 97.2 today around 15:15. Its back now and unchanged - bit bizarre.

Kiss 100 came on air legally in September 1990, while Classic FM didn't launch until 1992. That leaves a two year window when Kiss had a fairly clear band. I just wondered if any of our older contributers logged it in the Midlands or East Anglia (or even further away?) during that time.

I remember listening at home in Sutton Coldfield in what must have been 1991 during the summer. With Steve Jackson and David Roddigan. It was listenable all over Brum and I remember as a 15 year old being disappointed when Classic FM tests started the following year and blatted kiss 100 entirely.

The travel flag on 101 has gone as well, same for Heart, although this happened a while back, there was a point where the RDS Name was 'HER_P' - Not a fault with my radio, was like that on and off with different devices, with perfect signal!

There are still some local ads, but I'm not sure about local news content. It is possible that there is still local information on events, which may be all that the licences require. After all that's probably of more interest / relevance to the target audience.

I wonder if the travel flag removal on 101 is a permanent thing, as I don't think 100 London ever had a travel flag; and I don't think 101's has been used for years. Galaxy 101 could be relied upon to activate it during peak hours, but I can't remember if Vibe ever bothered in the years which followed.

Vibe East certainly used theirs back in the day.

The Travel flag was being used (At least it was last year) for travel during breakfast, I know travel has been ditched in the afternoon, not sure about mornings now.

Looking at the latest shots, the missing elements on the aerials may not help it maintain its directionability, or beam northwards !

Looks like it's been fixed now. Signal strength back to normal levels.

Are you sure it's not just one of the specialist shows? :D
