    I assume this is using the modern version of 3D as opposed to the coloured glasses type of system.

    Yes, it's the modern version of the Polaroid system.
    The red/green anaglyph was used to make 3D available to cinemas who didn't want to spend money on new equipment, so they could show 3D using just one projector. It worked (in black and white) but it's not how the 50s classics were meant to be shown.
