iplayer upgrade problem

Every time I try to run iPlayer desktop, or do a download, it advises me to upgrade my iPlayer desktop to the latest version. But, when I try the upgrade, I get the message:
Sorry an error has occurred.
This application cannot be installed because this installer has been mis-configured. Please contact the application author for assistance.
Any suggestions? I am running Windows 7/
