I know by even making this comment I could be tapping into a large taboo but basically there's a reason why Lenny Henry and Jocelyn Jo-Esien have been doing so well, they're actually funny comedians!
For this reason, are Gina's comments actually correct? Feel free to leave your points, good or bad.

By making the comment of "Gina Yashere just isn't funny" is potentially tapping a large taboo? I don't think so. She's a comedienne who you don't find funny so feel free to state your view.
I agree with you 100%. She's about as funny as being savaged to death by a rottweiller. Everytime i've seen her on the TV absolutely nothing she says has me in stitches or even raises a smile. It's got nothing whatsoever to do with the colour of her skin, it's got everything to do with the unfunny nonsense that comes out of her mouth.
If the quality of her jokes are on a similar level to the jokes she's told over the years in the UK, she'll receive a similar level of success in the USA, or even less so. Trying to say that her lack of success has anything to do with racism is the worst kind of excuse for her lack of talent.
1) What comments?
2) No, she isn't funny. At all. Always weak on Mock the Week and merely noisy when I've seen her stand up.

Those Comments Mate
Hate to break it to her but theres far more funnier comedians out there than her...and yes they are black.
Seriously it really fcuks me off proper when these jumped up idiot use their colour as an excuse for themselves not being successful:rolleyes:. Personally i think shes just a rubbish comedian who hasnt got a clue on how to be funny.
There are some good black British comics, I've seen them, but way too many of them do the same old black/white schtick.
The reason white comics do better in this country is because they seem much more willing to explore new subjects and styles. I can't think of one black comic I'd describe as surreal or even 'alternative'. It's just the same old routine Richard Pryor was doing thirty years ago.
Even Chris Rock's stand up isn't that different to Pryor's, he's just managed to put a couple of new twists on it.
She's a lot quieter, not all 'Look at Me, Look at Me'. It serves her well in the long run
To be fair Lenny was funny on Tiswas, mind you I was about ten.
Gina Yashere and Little Miss Jocelyn are both unfunny and downright irritating IMO.
Never really topped the David Bellamy impression though, di he?
oh no, NIGERIA !!! :D:D
I think she mentioned it once or twenty thousand times whilst being unfunny on mock the week.
Thanks solentboy.
Well apart from, as others(and me) have already said, she ain't funny she contradicts herself in her comments anyway.
One the one hand she has to wait for Lenny Henry to die before getting a show. And then it's because Jocelyn Esien has a show.
If it means we get a funny comedian on Mock the Week in her place I'm prepared to contribute to her ticket to LA.
We're behind America because a) they have a significantly larger non-white population (about three times the size) and b) they have laws that force them to employ minorities.
Thinking back, that's the only thing I remember. did he do anything else "funny"?
I'm sorry, but Lenny Henry, as nice as he seems..... is not at all funny, he is lucky to have married into comedy royalty...imo this is why he has maintained some sort of TV presence.
Having said all that, I struggle to find an example of a really funny british comedian at the mo....it's all so dull and boring.
She'd have to crack one or two funny jokes first.
He wore a big Rasta hat and said 'Oooooh-kaaaay!'
Erm....
Erm..."Trevor McDoughnut", complete with comedy glasses??:D
The ol' I'm from "nigeria and also from the ghetto" thing isn't funny anymore.
Also when watching her on Mock of the week i tried to find her funny...but she just wans't. She isn't witty enough.
However she is the most-succesful from the 3 non-blondes (BBC3 TV SHOW) Jocylnn had a failed TV show (that was not really funny either) and the other one was last seen on Cirque De Celebritie (with the likes of the 40 year old man from grange hill).....
Er... she wasn't even in "3 Non Blondes". But I guess you find it easy to confuse them right? Young, black, female, what's the difference, they're all 'unfunny'.
Oh yeah, it's coming back to me now.
He also did that "Katanga" chap, that might have been later though?
