The Saints - (I'm) Stranded (1977) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1LA2DbwXJoo
(I don't think this was a hit but I think it was released twice - on EMI-Harvest and also "Power Exchange" records).
Rob! Don't know the song (although I'm trying to detect it) just to let you know that you're missed by some on BJ. Well ... you're missed by the people with a functioning brain! Glad I can still see your posts elsewhere (here).
(Norma)
hi norma
missed by those with a functioning brain?...thatll be about three people then! lol. that place is the pits, at least you can get some decent convo here with some very knowlegable members.
Brian Protheroe - Pinball (1974)
Brian Protheroe was (and still is) a British actor, who for a very brief spell during the seventies tried his luck as a singer-songwriter and had a minor hit single with this great track.
Santana - Revelations (1977)
I love this band, but this has been difficult, so many brilliant tracks to choose from. I’ve finally decided to submit this superb instrumental from the “Festival” album.

Agree with the A Man Needs A Maid comment, I'd say either that or Out On The Weekend are best songs frm Harvest
This melancholic track reminiscent of their best track (IMHO) "How Does It Feel"; was taken from their "Back To Base" album and flopped without trace. But a last minute call to fill in as acting headliners at the Reading Festival was just around the corner.
This USA #93 single was the title track of their last album prior to them going disco on Jive Talkin'; as you can hear they were already discovering a more soulful sound. The Brothers GIBB sure knew how to construct a pop tune even on this relatively unloved track.
Good song. I love the song Cold Rain from their album without Young. /notonyoutube
Three doomed UK singles from 1979.
This is, I think, Kirsty MacCall's first ever single. Didn't get into the singles charts due to promotional problems. Kirsty MacColl - They Don't Know
This ironically titled single charted so low that it would remain their only single as they broke up when their record label pulled the release of their second album. The Headboys - The Shape Of Things To Come
Although this single did okay in the USA, the eponymous group led by The Motors' former guitarist would disintegrate soon after with even a change of line-up and record label failing to save them. Bram Tchaikovsky - Girl Of My Dreams
Did you know Eric Clapton's Cocaine was a JJ Cale cover? Here's another of his. JJ Cale - Clyde
And finally, Dirk Annegarn who came from Holland but still sung the blues in French with rather an accent. Maybe he just liked France. Dirk Annegarn - Hesitation Blues
To end with three French lovelies
My favourite Veronique Sanson song has to be Amoureuse but in keeping with the thread here's a much lesser known song of hers that's almost as good. Véronique Sanson Ma Musique S'en Va
Finally Catharine Lara whose first two albums sadly feature not on youtube (they are her unrecognised best) but this one about a controlling mother is nice too. Catharine Lara - toi ma mère
Black Sabbath - Laguna Sunrise (1972)
If you're familiar with the music of Black Sabbath, but not familiar with this particular track, you may be in for a bit of a surprise.
Taken from his Before and After Science album; possibly his last conventional pop/rock album he released. Of course Brian Eno was a former member of .....
Taken from their fifth studio album Siren, this perky track about celebrity and fame never made the definitive 4CD Roxy Music box set "The Thrill Of It All" which I regard as a stunning omission. The cover of Siren featured American super model Jerry Hall who was Bryan Ferry's girlfriend at the time; however she left him for the lead singer of .....
and probably this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gTVSvY2W_c
Leon Haywood - I Wanna Do Something Freaky To You (1975)
Released by 20th Century, I wonder if this is Barry White's orchestra?
but not these
Ozark Mountain Daredevils - Jackie Blue http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrbNeOEG0GY
They were from the USA, this was produced by Glyn Johns at Olympic Studios London and released on A&M in 1974.
This is rather nice - from 1978 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n5FQZqECygw
Madleen Kane - "C'est si bon"
This was on one of the last LPs issued by british Decca before they were taken over by Polygram. I found it in a shop having a "clearout" sale of items from the warehouse at bargain prices. The recording was made by a company in France.
Anyone remember this from 1978? Tony Blackburn used to play it to death on Radio 1 but it still only reached No.56. Ain't Nothing Gonna Keep Me From You by Teri De Sario. Written by Barry Gibb. I bought the 45, great song.

Beautiful song from one of my all time favourite American female singers.
Claude Bolling - Borsalino (1970)
Main theme from a French gangster movie.
Neil Young - A Man Needs A Maid (1972)
I believe I may be the only person in the world who thinks this is the best track on “Harvest”.
Brian Protheroe - Pinball (1974)

Thanks, nice to know I'm not alone in my opinion after all !
are you a neil young fan then?
Yes, mainly After the Goldrush and Harvest, not too keen on later stuff. Also llke Buffalo Springfield and CSN&Y.
O right, I've got most of his albums, got some Buffalo Springfield and CSM&Y stuff on Decade but want to get the individual albums by CSN and Y
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vlXlf-g7JLU
A superb album which, if you don't know it, you really should check out.
Here's a must see clip of CSN&Y playing live on TV. Fantastic stuff...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSPFaUZQGQc
T-Rex - Celebrate Summer (1977)
Marc Bolan's final single release whilst alive. The Dandy in the Underworld album really was a return to form of sorts.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kB7skYEv_EM
David Bowie - Be My Wife (1977)
Taken from his wonderful "Low" album, this became his first single to fail to chart since the January 1972 release of "Changes".
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BU_2oNF9CZE
Paul McCartney & Wings - Venus and Mars/Rockshow (Medley) (1975)
The first post Beatles release to fail to chart in the UK. Stateside this track peaked at #12.

Slade - Sign O' The Times (1979)
This melancholic track reminiscent of their best track (IMHO) "How Does It Feel"; was taken from their "Back To Base" album and flopped without trace. But a last minute call to fill in as acting headliners at the Reading Festival was just around the corner.

Bram Tchaikovsky - Girl Of My Dreams
Three quirky songs.
This Rolling Stones cover is something else.
The Residents - Satisfaction
As utterly weird as it is beautiful. An orphans lament by a real orphan.
Robbie Basho - Orphan's Lament
A song about space that wasn't by David Bowie but just as brilliant
Billy Thorpe - Children Of The Sun
Continuing with three blues songs.
The King of Blues
BB King - Guess Who
Did you know Eric Clapton's Cocaine was a JJ Cale cover? Here's another of his.
JJ Cale - Clyde
And finally, Dirk Annegarn who came from Holland but still sung the blues in French with rather an accent. Maybe he just liked France.

If you're familiar with the music of Black Sabbath, but not familiar with this particular track, you may be in for a bit of a surprise.
