Denise got more justice than the mother of a local lad who was stabbed to death over 10 times by someone much older than him. He got let off, didn't get any sentence at all because he has learning disabilities. It's clearly hard for Denise to comprehend. Venables and Thompson would never have been punished appropriately in her eyes like Ian Huntley, Roy whiting as they were 10.

If anyone wants to know if he was hung like a horse, you'll have to pm me as im wary of posting graphic details here.

Indeed, if you look at the link I provided on the 17-year old who was tortured to death for 44 days, you will see that her killers got off extremely lightly - more so than T&V and they were a lot older than 10, so could have been said to know exactly what what they were doing and the consequences of their actions (more than two 10-year olds anyway).

Granted, this was in Japan, but it gives pause for thought.

As for anything else - I really don't want to know! :D Honest!

I agree. David James Smith said a month ago (during the anniversary of James' death) that he is not sure that Venables will ever be released again. And he it will be incredibly difficult to release him again.

I doubt he'll never be released, his new offences are not serious enough and all the other behaviour before recall aside from the porn was normal for a man his age.

To think he'll never be released is silly imo, though you could say smith knows better than me.

David James Smith is not a criminologist - he is a journalist and he doesn't actually know Venables (he does, however, know a great deal about Thompson and was in contact with his mother throughout his time in custody. She cut off contact when Thompson was about to be released - probably for security reasons).

As for me being Jon Venables; I would hope I come across as somewhat more educated! And more female!

(By the way, I never used the term 'media ****' I think),

Re Roy Whiting - he never got sentenced to a while life tariff. He initially got sentenced to life with a 50 year minimum term. This was actually decreased to 40 years. He was already a serious sex offender before he murdered Sarah Payne and indeed, was always categorised as a 'high risk' to children (a report before his release by a psychiatrist indicated a high liklihood of reoffending).

I read about that horrendous crime, truly horrific. But they do not have anonimity like T and V have, they are continuously outed by the newspapers and if they try to change their names, the papers reveal their new identity.

I do actually spend my weekends getting high and wearing flowers and other hippy gear. Groovy gang sounds fun!

Well, we are talking about a different country and different laws presumably governing both sentencing and also the press. :)

Not to mention, these people were not 10-year old children. whose identities should never have been released in the first place.

In fact, it may be that that whole thing was predicated on revenge because the girl refused to go out with one of the boys.

Yes I know it happened in Japan, but as you were comparing the two crimes, i was just pointing out a major difference. And I agree it was based on revenge, it doesn't bear thinking about what that poor girl suffered because one boy thought she had "disrespected" his friend. :(

I know. I was utterly appalled when I read of it - and I read books about the Holocaust, so i know what man can do to man. :(.

People still making jokes, I see.

I'm rethinking my decision to come out of lurk mode. Have rarely posted on a more ridiculous, tasteless forum where the mods are nowhere to be seen.

You're aware that the jokes are almost universally at the expense of a poster who has been trolling this thread (among others) for the duration, right?

Is that worse, or better, than accusing people of being Venables or of supporting child murder, do you think? Or, indeed, of being Communists (yes, this was a thing that actually happened)?

Overreaction much. If you are offended about the posts on this thread (bar one poster in particular) then I suggest you stay off the internet.

You could try concentrating on the non laughing posts.

Or you could just not post.

    Up to you.

    Outraged flouncing is useless.

I said something similar earlier. Quite how the particular poster who has spent 85 pages insulting, baiting and generally trolling has slipped past the mods is beyond me. I can only assume they are amused by the bonkers tangents he keeps sending us off on.

Don't you think this thread and the whole ongoing saga with the pitchfork mafia can be explained with a simple metaphor?

It's like a plughole on a sink. Over the months people have just put so much shit down the sink, that it has become blocked, and it's got blocked so badly that even the strongest industrial strength cleaner is not going to shift the vast amounts of shit that have been shoved down the sink.

This is going to go on and on and on until someone flounces, he's going to be forever there or thereabouts. His obituary will be for Soupbowl aka spacecube aka all the other IDs he's had up to now aka all the ones he get's in the future. He'll get to write a posthumous autobiography talking about his forum life which can be pretty much summed up as 'I killed a 1 month old thread, and loads of people laughed at my ass'

So this was a joke? An attempt at humour? It didn't make me laugh.

I miss Spacecube :( I can't help but imagine our mutual friend sat at his computer, expensive beer in hand, writing whatever he thinks will get a reaction and having a little snigger every time he gets a bite. It's quite sweet the way that he has picked particular FM's as sparring partners, it's almost like the little boy pulling pigtails in the playground, but at least he is consistent!

Perhaps you weren't the target audience? I very much doubt whether entertaining you is high up on anais' list of priorities.

I didn't laugh either, but then if only stuff that made me laugh counted as jokes then there are a hell of a lot of successful comedians who'd have to entirely redefine their careers.

Why? Nobody is being light-hearted about what happened to James Bulger.

Indeed she has, but when she, as well as a few other posters, keep claiming things that don't actually happen, I think that does tend to frustrate people to a degree.

For God's sake. I've been on the internet for fifteen years - probably longer than a lot of people here. I've seen it all, and this is one of the worst boards I've ever posted on in terms of baiting and how little moderating is done. I wouldn't be surprised if even 4chan has higher standards.

I continue to be completely disgusted by this thread and many of the posters in it. Call this a flounce if you like - I just can't believe people are for real in what they post. If you lot tried spouting some of your nonsense in the real world, you'd be shot down quicker than you can say madness. I guess that's why you spend so much time here trying to out liberal each other.

Wow at the entire sorry thing.
