Quite simple really - but in your logic you won't discuss a poorer (or better) figure on another channel on the same night for a similar type of programme genre -
Yes that logic makes real sense on a Ratings Thread - you also seem to have a problem with singular & plural - nowhere in my post did I mention "any ITV comedy" or "BBC comedies" - reread the post, it is in reference to 1 comedy show on BBC1 in comparison to 1 comedy show on ITV1 :sleep:
A few people on here commented on here about GNO's rating and you suddenly have to bring up a BBC1 comedy's rating from a few months ago purely because the BBC1 comedy did worse. Seems a bit childish really to turn into my show on my favourite channel did better than your show on your favourite channel contest. Yawn! Yawn Yawn!
And they aren't really similar, one is a comedy drama, targetting young males in January, an hour in length and the other was a 30 minute sitcom, targetting females that ran in November/December against different competition.
The main thing in common is they both went get a second series!

True although I can't help but notice that there hasn't been a great rush to compare Great Night Out with Benidorm. A one hour comedy that aired on ITV in the same Friday 9PM slot as Great Night Out during Q1 in 2012 and 2011 (albeit starting a month later). Surely that would be the more suitable comparison.

Maybe it's had a fair amount of on air promotion because ITV thought Friday at 9pm is a tough slot, it's very difficult to launch a new comedy & therefore needed a lot promotional support - maybe 3.8m will be within their expectations. The truth is, we don't actually know do we.

I enjoyed Great Night Out. The trailer looked like something I've seen before but actually I ended up watching it and enjoyed it
So The Big Bang Theory exceeded 2m again on E4 last night.
If it doesn't move to C4 next series then they've lost the plot.
What ratings could it get on C4? If it gets the same or just slightly more then there's no point. Only if they know it'll benefit the show - e.g Miranda's move from BBC2 to BBC1.
The Inbetweeners got 3m on E4 (4m inc +1) but they didn't bother moving that to C4.

The only reason I could see to move The Big Bang Theory at this point is Channel 4 get serious about launching a comedy night on Channel 4. In that instance having a relatively big hitter like Big Bang as the centre piece of the block (as it currently is on E4) makes all kinds of sense. If however its just going to be The Big Bang Theory awkwardly scheduled between editions of Million Pound Drop its hard to see what the point is. Plus you have to weigh the potential damage to E4 and the E4 comedy block.
