Deloitte is being lined up as administrator to #HMV if board decides to pursue that option, people close to the company say.

Ouch I would suggest anyone who has gift vouchers, discount codes, or money off vouchers to use these ASAP.

Probably first thing tomorrow and not to buy anything at high cost as I doubt if anything goes wrong your gonna be stuck.

We may see the prices go up with Amazon

Yes, it looks like the end is near unless someone's willing to take the chain over. I think that a high street chain selling disc media still has a strong future but you've got to get the pricing right.

Exclusive: HMV expected to appoint Deloitte as administrators tomorrow morning

Looks like the end maybe near. Possible new owners or going under it seems.

Laura Kuenssberg has just said on Twitter that Deloitte will be called in tomorrow morning.

I think we may get an announcement before the markets open tomorrow. Unless someone comes to the rescue where's the money coming from to keep the business going in the future. They might as well throw in the towel.

Well that's it... No company in the right mind are going to save HMV they have no future.

And the top dogs at HMV are to blame, high prices and lack of ideas to bring HMV into the current times with technology,

Such a shame, it is the only shop which has such a big selection now. If they closed all but the most successful stores I'm sure they could survive in some form.

"HMV is run by Trevor Moore, who recently took over having held the chief executive’s post at Jessops"

He sounds like one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse. I wonder where he will go next ?

Quite true. It does seem to be the high prices that have been the big nails in the corpse. Sure you can get some good deals but the general perception in the public is that prices were much higher than other retailers.

Unfortunately, rather than lowering prices they've decided to play hard ball and it seems they've lost. There's still hope that someone else will come in and turn the business around but like you said, it would be a big risk unless the new owner(s) have a ton of cash behind them.

Retail stores cannot compete with online retailers. Try factoring in shop rent and staff wages amongst other things, guys.

Another big retailer gone. They struggle to sell there stock already, so massive big sale over the next few days. Another lot of people on the dole. I wonder if they can keep the name / brand and sell online.

If HMV go, many town and city centres will have no specialist CD/DVD shops.

I got a £20 voucher for Christmas - better get spending it because if I remember rightly Comet were refusing them when they went under and according to MSE its discretionary whether or not they accept them.

It still doesn't give them an excuse for charging nearly double for some albums that are not within the top 40 genre. Had they been more reasonable with pricing on music that I listen to, then perhaps I may have bought more albums from them.

Sky News has also now confirmed that Deloitte will be called in now. That must have been the board decision this evening.

It may be too late unfortunately. I expect the announcement will come in the morning and they may state that vouchers aren't being accepted just like Jessops did.
