Idris Elba: King of Speed, Boxing Night

I've had this on my planned recordings for at least a week.

Part One is on BBC2 on Boxing Night at 8.15, with the second part the following night at 8.00.

Ari vatanen is in part two & Idris rolls a rally car, accidentally.

I'm really looking forward to it so I hope it doesn't disappoint.

Just bumping this as a heads-up to anyone who doesn't know that it's on later.

Turned over after open all hours and was pleasantly surprised. 'My man from The Wire' is a pretty good presenter :)

Will catch both parts on I player when I get the chance

I enjoyed it but tomorrow's episode is the one I really want to see, with Ari & an appearance of my favourite ever car, the Metro 6r4.

That was entertaining enough, not enough tech info for me.

Wanted to know what the street racer in Detroit and the chap in New Jersey were running in their cars though.
Liked the Cannonball convoy some nice cars on show.
He seemed to be giving it some proper beans around Watkins Glenn too, if Rusty's response is anything to go by.

Must have been good, didn't timeshift, fiddle with the computer or anything else while it was on.

Good... but not as good as a Top Gear special

I've still no idea who this fella is, I know it's not hip to like NASCAR but I do, so I'll revisit it on I - player.

The Detroit cop was driving a Jag, that's indicative of Detroit's problems.

Watched the first one on iplayer and watching this one now, good programme and I'm not even into cars

I know it would have been filmed before but it's a bit unfortunate to be shown so close to Paul Walkers death though, Idris even just used the words 'fast and furious'

Sorry but this mans ego has jst ruined a potentially good programme.

His encounter with the illegal racers in Chicago was cringeworthy.

did he mention he is from the east end of london yet ?

Keeps slipping in a biography, forgetting that most of us dont know him or even care.

But hey Im a car fan who has never seen the Wire so what do I know.

I don't know who Paul Walker is, a celeb I'm guessing.
It might have escaped your attention but people are dying on the roads and racing all year round.
Deaths have been mentioned more than once, it's a big part of the program.

Paul Walker starred in the fast and furious franchise, movies with the complex plot of cars driving really fast and making it look cool, until he died in a crash recently. This programme is doing the same thing and even paying tribute to the franchise when he used the words 'fast and furious' which was obviously filmed before he died. It just seems a bit unfortunate and badly timed

I've got no sympathy for anyone who dies in a fireball because they were driving too fast

Do you mean in general or just on public roads?

I misread the title of this thread, and am now sorely disappointed that there's not a TV show where Idris Elba rapidly punches seven shades out of people.

    Loved it, tonight!

Metro 6r4, Ari Vatanen, David Llewellyn, Paddy Hopkirk and even a bit of Tony Pond.

Great. Much better than part one, which was okay.

    Thumbs up from me.

It almost did say that in the title - as I originally forgot to add the comma!
