The brummie accent isnt that bad whereas the black country accent is terrible

I agree about the BC and that's someone who come from the Black Country or Mordor as Tolkien called it. :D Still dislike the strong Brummie accent.

Birmingham has improved a lot over the past decade. It's well worth a visit if you don't live here.

The German market is a great place to visit at this time of year.

It's the only city worthy of being the 2nd city.
    2nd to none more like.

Humble salt of the earth types, we're a friendly bunch.

He was mainly the keyboard player but the sound of the Moodies, vocals wise, was down to Denny Laine and later Justin Hayward.

you need an ie at the end

its a Geordie...... not a Geord

    Its a Brummie .... not a Brum

    You misunderstand.

Brummie - someone from Birmingham or Brum.
Brum - a shortened name for the place, Birmingham or Brummagem.

It is after all...... population wise... Britains second city .
    It has 6 Universities ....
Someone said it has more canals than Venice
Its the hub of the Motorway network ...

    William Shakespeare was a Brummie

It maybe still is the centre of Britains Motor Industry
It has two clubs in the Premier League

With all this and a thousand years of history it should be a major
    tourist centre too !

.... but have you ever been to Brummie ?

    What are the 6 Universities?

Yes because the Moody Blues are definitely the most famous act from Birmingham.

Birmingham is definitely worth a visit. My top things there -
Library - fantastic, amazing building with free access and great views
    Canals and boat rides
Huge market, indoor and out with a real buzz of atmosphere.
The bronze bull is worth seeing as you walk past the shopping centre.

The Botanical gardens are I think better than Kew, much better! It's the loveliest place for a peaceful day out.

Its f**k ugly as a city. There is a dearth of tourist attractions.
Stratford upon Avon, although big for tourism, isn't a part of Birmingham & no local would regard it as so.
The city neither has the cute historical factor, a funky hip, creative vibe, or any clout as a business/technology centre. Hence the overall sense of "MEH" about the place.
It also has serious poverty. Issues in certain parts.
Compared to say Manchester, the giant of the North it rather pales into insignificance.

So Do I but I suspect we're very much in the minority here!
I guess it's in the association you have between the people and the accent. Like you I've generally found them to be friendly & down to earth people, so I take positive connotations from that.

I've been to Paradise but I've never been to (Brum)mie.

It wasn't Paradise Circus in Birmingham then? :D

I used to go shopping loads in Birmingham when I lived in Nottingham. I think west Midlanders are much friendlier than east Midlanders as well :)

    Yes it is, I agree.

Speaking of Birmingham, I also loved the original Crossroads :)
