Sky Movies 007 has now launched and it looks like its going to be quite impressive. Not just all 22 official and 2 unofficial films but also the tv film of Casino Royale from the 50;s. just checked the channel and they are showing trailers and featurettes from all the films. Showcase has Dr No, The Spy Who Loved Me, The Living Daylights, Goldeneye and Casino Royale. The on demand movies section has not got its own Bond box set section yet but im sure it will be there later. But all the films are under the All section along with the trailer for each film. The Sky Moves website has a dedicated 007 section with lots of info and features on each film. Looks like Sky are really putting some effort into this.

the channel has been re-named, so Sky Showcase doesn't at the moment.

they are all on it's own channel.

am a massive bond fan, have had a bond fest, today watched 4 movies. i have only just realised that all movies are 5 minutes shorter than dvd releases, dont think sky have cut them, i know itv used to ruin them with edits and ad breaks. anyone shed any light on this??

Just around the 50th, after that the channel will be changed back and the films will appear all over the place every now and then for a year, then who knows, ITV might get them back.

I dont have movies thankfully but my next door neighbour does and asked me WTF are bond films on 24/7 for. At least it backs up my thoughts of not getting the bond series on blu ray, some of the quality is dire and a lot looks upscaled to me. I know sky is inferior to blu ray but its a good indicator. Shame really as I though some extra effort would have been put into the bond new blu ray set, but of course I am going off topic now:eek:

You know what, I don't have movies and when this was announced I though to myself "ha, old films ITV used to show on bank holidays, who'd want that!"

But now I know its here I have an inexplicable urge to watch a bond movie :)

But I'm too tight fisted to subscribe.

Be good seeing them intact and not butchered, in HD and in the correct aspect ratio, but most of all without those damn adverts.

In the "old days" I would have said it's the difference between a 24fps film transfer and a 25fps film transfer, but these days I'm sure it's not a simple as that!

But I am wiling to bet there will be a few who complain Dr No is slightly pillar-boxed to accommodate the original 1.66:1 AR :).

Watched the first two Films Dr.No and From Russia With Love and the quality was very good but upon getting to Goldfinger Sky are showing an unremastered version as there are scratches on the print and the colour is very washed out and it's very grainy. Also this (and Goldeneye by the way too) havnt got an credit for Lowery regarding the remastering.Considering the iconic nature of Goldfinger in the Bond series and all the advertising Sky are pushing regarding the HD quailty of these films I find it strange they have overlooked this classic film.I'm thinking more now of getting the Blu-Ray boxset for my future Bond viewing pleasure!

Just to say us Virgin Media subscribers have it on Channel 403. - a pleasure to dip into them haven't watched one fully through yet. Just watching the homage to Thunderbird 2 in the Man With Golden Gun.

No matter what Sky do you always have to slag them off. I watched a couple of the Bond movies last night and on our television the picture and sound quality was pristine.

I think its because its a different frame rate, DVD/Blu-Rays are slightly slower, over the course of a film this can build up to quite a few minutes. When broadcast on TV films show more "frames" per second so it is slightly shorter. That might be why watching it on a DVD never quite feels the same as watching it on TV.
