Not a bad list to be fair. You are always setting yourself up when you create a thread like this but most of those songs are great.

I dont think I could ever do my own though. It changes every day for a kick off. Top 100 albums maybe

I always fail at trying to formulate a list like this - because there is a mix of songs that I love and respect and then songs that have great importance to me..... then there are current tastes .... I am far too fickle!

Right...I've just tried to do this with youtube links. I've been sat here for half an hour easily agonizing over my top 10. This is a job that I need more time for and I have work this evening.

I'm compiling my list in a Word document and when I've finished I'll post it with youtube links.

I know it shouldn't be so hard...But if you love music as much as I do (and I know that most music browsers of DS are!) it's not easy! :p

    Until then...

Hello again. It took me a while to do this list as well. First I wrote it all down and when I was happy with that I typed it all up in Word and copied and pasted it into this forum. I didn't do all this at once, I think I first started the list a few years ago, and I've just added songs that I loved. It's quite when you like a broad range of music like I do.

I can't do Top 100 albums though. Automatic For the People by REM is the only album where I like every song on it, but it's not my favourite. My Top 10 would probably be:

    1/ Sgnt Pepper (The Beatles)
    2/ The Wall (Pink Floyd)
3/ The White Album (The Beatles)
    4/ Achtung Baby (U2)
    5/ Abbey Road (The Beatles)
6/ Automatic For the People (REM)
7/ What's The Story Morning Glory (Oasis)
    8/ Radioactivity (Kraftwerk)
    9/ Thriller (Michael Jackson)
    10/ OK Computer (Radiohead)

I can't do my Top 100 films either. Although my top 4 would be:
    1/ Blade Runner
    2/ Lost In Translation
    3/ Pink Floyd's The Wall
    4/ Moulin Rouge

I read through them. Longer lists are more worthwhile than top fives. Anyone who likes music to a significant extent shouldn't have any bother making a list of 100 tracks they love.

I would draw the line at ranking them in order. I don't believe that's possible due to differing moods on different occasions etc. Alphabetical order makes sense to me.

I read through them. Longer lists are more worthwhile than top fives. Anyone who likes music to a significant extent shouldn't have any bother making a list of 100 tracks they love.

I would draw the line at ranking them in order. I don't believe that's possible due to differing moods on different occasions etc. Alphabetical order makes sense to me.

absolutely... i had no trouble even though i tried to narrow it down. there are areas i missed completely. tbh i could have done 200... i like more then 100 from 1966 alone..

I always fail at trying to formulate a list like this - because there is a mix of songs that I love and respect and then songs that have great importance to me..... then there are current tastes .... I am far too fickle!

Aren't most people the same in that respect?

I tend to have separate and various lists for all time favourite, current favourite, different genre, even different decades of musical history.

I could never get close to finishing the list as I would have changed my mind half way through anyway :D

With a few exceptions I tend to be like that with favourite artists too...

I would certainly have several Seekers hits in my top 100 along with some more traditional songs like Danny Boy...

Are most people including or even considering things like Hymns and Christmas carols?
