Congrats on your lads gig, use to dj myself but never had the confidence to really get the bedroom due to the amount of djs that popped up overnight in 2000.
If you can get hold of trance nation 1 mixed by ferry corsten circa 99 it is a fantastic album especially disc 2.
my lads not scared of getting up and doing stuff, hes got confidence and charisma - dunno who he got that off! . but his enthusiasm, and amenability to others has made him popular, and being part of the ibiza trance family has helped.
think ive got that cd somewhere.... cant remember, i usually listen to music online now as opposed to playing something i own.
having watched some of that livestream from mambos, i honestly dont know why trance isnt bigger. all that deep house shit might be ok to dance to, but nothing more, unlike trance.

Watched te end set of eric pridz and the start of morillos set and the crowd looked bored and hardly any dancing. Hope this isnt he overall scene in ibiza now!
imho its hard to beat a definitive version which is what i think this is.... but sometimes there are great remixes, and as i like lange, i like this remix, it does the track credit
back from ibiza and it was interesting yet also perhaps disappointing from the trance pov.
its all about deep house... everywhere theres deep house booming out, trance is pretty much underground, being popular with only a reletively few but dedicated people. the ibiza trance family are a group of dedicated fans, and dj's who are keeping the genre alive and well. the itf are resident in the tropi bar in the west end, where they host the official cream @ amnesia pre-party https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCef0Y4zfmY .
they also have a residency in eden in room 2 every friday supporting judgemental, judge jules main gig.
so, IF trance ever comes back into fashion, there are people in place ready to promote it, but currently it plays a huge second place to deep house..... a style which is actually quite closely related to trance in as much that it specialised in simple repetitive beats, albeit slow, was quite popular in the early days of dance back in the early 90's where shamanic styles were employed to stimulate altered states of consciousness.... well that was the theory
shamen - boss drum https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GM81gHq0_s
i believe its that path of dance evolution that lead to trance...
.... only if you like it though. itll die out when the next style emerges or re-emerges.
plus.... like all styles, theres good and bad. i found most of it pretty repetitive and rather unpleasant but some tracks were good. it is incredibly 'sameish' though, .

I think people's music tastes are adapting as there seems to be waves of different genres.
I never used to be interested in dubstep, but got into that when I heard I Need Air by Magnetic Man and explored the genre a bit more.
I had never heard of electro house either until I heard a show on Radio 1 with Kutski and instantly fell in love with the genre.
If a trance track becomes popular in the near future, the focus will come back to Trance and it will be more popular.
Unfortunately with electronic music, it depends on what is the current 'in thing' most of the time. Deep house is being overkilled, so will go back underground soon enough when people get sick of it.

bib... yeah me too.... great track.
indeed, talking with trance fans it was common consensus that a new catchy track was needed to re-focus people back on trance.
Really happy I found this thread. I absolutely love trance, especially the classics from the likes of Dash and ATB. I find that remixes are often as good, if not better than, the original tune. Melodic trance, songs with powerful vocals and a strong bass rhythm, are my favourites.
I'm going to the Top 100 DJs Party at the Brixton O2 Academy in October, don't have anyone to go with though so if anyone out there is planning on heading there on Oct 17th, hi!!
There are some more which are more electronic-dance, a bit more "punchy" and suited to summer nights raving on the beach:
MaRLO: Atlantis
Ilan Bluestone: Tesseract
I could go on and on. Most weeks I spend at least an hour listening to the top 100 new releases on Beatport's website, then downloading my favourites onto my phone

hmmm.... it sounds good, but for me theres no distinct structure to the track and no euphoric moment that i like.
For Jarre fans, the euphoric moment is probably at 3:08 when they finally say "Oui, oui, Jean-Michel est arrivé!!"
