can't delete partial backup off seagate personal cloud

Hello all
got a seagate personal cloud.
during the 1st backup of my usb harddrive i lost internet connection. The 2nd backup worked fine (there was one folder it did not copy, but i cannot even copy that locally) however I cannot delete the partial first back up. it says I need permission from unix root? I have tried everything under the sun, but no luck.
any ideas gratefully received!
