Phenomenon is one that I have to think about. Even had to google the spelling.
I can only say phenomenon if i go really slowly and think about each syllable. I tend to avoid it at all costs.
The other i struggle with is 'anaesthetist' - it makes my work life difficult as i have to mention them often. I usually get around it by saying anaesthetic staff whenever possible
Ibuprofen ( tablets) ..its a hard word to say i think Lol
Oh my days yes. I can say it fine now, but for years I just wouldn't say it because I had no idea how it was said. I'd just ask for the pink pain killers.
For some reason I got it into my head that it was "thee-oh-sore-us" when I was a little kid and, after realising I was wrong, I always feel like I'm "missing a part of it out" when I say it properly.
Also, while I'm here, I can't spell "necessary" for toffee.
I swear, every time I write it I have to go back and edit the S's and C's until I eventually stumble on the correct combination.
There's some kind of mental block which prevents me from looking at it once I've got it right and thinking "Right, one C at the start and 2 S's"
Still, only took one correction to get it right this time.
I have no problem with any words, but I do detest
the growing number of tv presenters/interviewers
who cannot pronounce 'nuclear' correctly.
The number of these idiots who say 'Nuke-You-Lar'
instead of 'New-clear' is unbelievable lately!
Apparently, I pronounce it as 'bruvfur' and 'bruvfer'.
When I tried the correct pronunciation, I couldn't do it. The most successful I could manage is 'bruth-thur'. I can pronounce broth, bother, mother, brolly, bromance, etc., though!

That's a good one. ;-) At junior school I remember being taught:
Never
eat
cucumbers
eat
salad*
sandwiches
and
remain
young
*might've been salmon that I mis-heard, but it still helps me out now.
Me too No idea why, but I really have to concentrate when saying it. I always want to say stragety. Glad I'm not alone.
or fat jesus ?:D
Mine too. I add on an extra non at the end.

Unless I really deliberate it comes out as diffy enshurate.
I have a friend who says "cargidan", which I think is far more difficult than "cardigan".
She also says "hotspital".
Yes, to avoid a difficult consonant cluster. But "sixth form" is often pronounced "six form" - a different way of getting round it.
Exactly. There's no way to pronounce a K sound followed by an S sounds followed by a TH sound in one go, one syllable
Siksth
There's about 4 syllables there

Actually, I used to have trouble with it too - pronouncing it "thesaurius" or "theosaurus".
the "impish supervillain" in the Superman comics.
