One outraged viewer wrote on a web forum: ‘Perhaps it’s because paedophilia is very much in the public consciousness at the moment but shouldn’t this be illegal? Nearly seeing up the skirt of a minor?’

The advert featuring 18-year-old Ms Berwin
I first saw that ad during X Factor and had to rewind it as I couldn't believe what I'd just seen. It's particularly striking given the Savile furore. If the ad has used an average looking teenager - short, hockey legged, acne ridden - then it could be classed as a 'joke for families'. Using a leggy model who looks exactly like the archetype you see all over internet porn shows it is barely disguised titillation. It astounds me that people are up in arms about the ASDA ad, when an ad portraying a teenage girl as a (wantonly asking-for-it) sex object is seen as amusing. Bizarre.

oh dear tenous link and all

    oh dear.

if anything it`s realistic, girls have been turning their waistbands over for decades.

Such a fuss and the DM as so worried about it that they have pictures to illustrate how bad it is, and in case people are really concerned they've got the video to watch over, and over again whilst their readers write letters to OFCOM in green ink.

and then there`s the daily mail photos last week celebrating the "womanly curves" of a fifteen year old girl.

Typical DM, quoting someone else saying "Nearly seeing up the skirt of a minor?" without pointing out that that isn't actually the case at all. But hey, if you can't print bullsh*t why not print a quote of someone else's bullsh*t. That's perfectly acceptable.

I've just seen this ad on Sky News.

Anybody who thinks it is offensive, sexualising children or 'can see up her skirt' is most definitely mentally ill.

I think a few people (19 at least) in this country really need a kick up the arse and get their priorities in order.

Besides, if people are complaining that it sexulises children, surely they're viewing the advert in a sexual way in the first place?

If they are seeing something sexual in a minor, then surely they are the one's with the problem? I watched it and thought, "what an annoying kid, I hope she gives him a slap."

^^^This - I didn't read the article so just watched the video - it was almost a replay of my later school years :D

I suppose it depends on the viewers perception of what they want to see in this case - as has already been said: most schoolgirls hiked their skirts; mine started out knee length and was thigh high (almost) by the time I got to school

I'd be interested to hear what exactly the writer thinks should be "illegal".

Seems, to me, that on that sort of basis you could ban almost anything as long as you could manage to dredge up some weirdo who admits to finding it "provocative".

Considering the dress code of some teenage girls around my area I think she's overdressed.

She does have some cracking legs on her. Even though those sock things are ridiculous, wtf?

A load of a do over nothing.

    Observational comedy, nothing more.

Some folk need to get a life.

I do worry about the people who make these complaints. They seem more creepy than the ones they are complaining about.

The DM are not passing comment on it, just reporting that others are complaining. That's the story.
Read the comments and ratings below and they show the readers think those who complained are way OTT.

Some people have brains that don't work properly. The people that complained have those broken brains in their heads. Sad. :(

That's not sexualising teenagers, that's pointing out what they actually do. I'm in lower sixth. All the girls looks like that (or worse). Apparently my school has a bit of a reputation for it....

My skirt was shorter than that in lower sixth too!:D

What surprises me is that the schools allow it.
