The American line up is lame. Who the hell are these people?

Apart from Janice Dickinson I've no idea who any of them are. Ive never seen any of them in my life, are they supposed to be famous or something? The UK line up isn't much bettter, although I do at least know who most of them are (apart from The Apprentice bloke, who the hell is he?). But seriously this is very, very lame.

Maybe instead of pursuing this stilly UK vs USA gimmick they should have just done as they usually do, a few z list UK celebs and a couple of Americans who we've actually all heard of?

It's hysterical watching these peoples VT's, them trying to hype themselves up as big stars when they are anything but. A very poor show C5!

Lame but I'm pretty sure they will be making the better TV. Also just because you don't know of them doesn't make them not famous, Teen mom and farah in particular are huge over there and I'm actually shocked by managed to get her

Huge over there doesn't equal huge over here though, does it?

Three of them are porn stars.

I guess we know what the casting agents think of America... (or want the UK public to think).

To be fair, Jenna Jameson is undeniably the most famous porn star of all time. But the other two are the low rent disgusting variety (both who actually only got into porn from slimy reality shows). Tila Tequila in fact is seriously mentally ill (she took some kind of brain damage a few years ago) and apparently became a neo-Nazi (or at least posted on twitter about a year and a half ago dressed as one and praising Adolph Hitler). Farrah Abraham became "famous" (more "notorious") for getting knocked up as a Teen, getting on TV to milk money from that, then switched to porn films about how she was (literally) now willing to take in it in bum for money.

This rap singer may have won a grammy (no doubt in the rap category back 20 years ago), but nobody's even heard of him in mainstream culture. In either country.

Baldwin is sort of famous. For being a cocaine fiend, being on celeb rehab shows, and having more famous brothers.

They're not huge in the US. That's totally false. "Teen Mom" has viewers, sure, but most of the general public would still have no idea who Farrah is (or care).

Jenna Jameson is huge worldwide. Nobody else in the American cast is more than marginally famous, in my opinion. A few of them (Farrah Abraham, Tila Tequila) are more notorious than famous. And Baldwin should only be known (even by the UK audience) mostly because he resembles his brothers and has a last name you all know. Don't pretend you don't know who Alec is.

Scoop or Fatass or whatever he's called is an absolute nobody, Grammy Award in the distant past or not. Take Alexander O'Neill's level of fame (virtually zero in the current USA culture) and divide it by fifty. That's probably this guy's "level".

Ma Willis and Rylan can keep repeating that as much as they like but the fact remains that the vast and overwhelming majority of the viewing public won't have the slightest clue as to who she is

I think the dividing line is clear. Anyone who's EVER seen a porn movie probably has heard the name. Anyone who hasn't, might not.

It's clear which side of the line you fall on. It has very little to do with the respective nationalities. "Biggest porn star in the world" is not some marketing claim. Her net worth is reportedly over $30 million US. From an industry where most viewers steal the content and don't pay.

I don't know who she is but then I don't watch porn. I haven't heard of any of the Americans.

Her fame (or distinct lack of it) has nothing to do with her nationality

No, "constantly watch" is what you'd have to do to know the name of an obscure porn star. Not the one who's often the ONLY porn star some people know.

I knew who the Baldwin brother is but then that is because I used to watch Homicide: Life On The Streets

Especially as she no longer resembles Jenna Jameson.

I'd jokingly call him "The Budget Baldwin" but really that's Billy Baldwin.

He's the coke-fiend Baldwin, who could have had a great career but didn't because he was high for 20 years straight.

US-only some know him from constant years long stretches on lame reality shows where they take famous addicts and exploit them ("Celebrity Rehab" I believe they called the main one of those).

Acting-wise, in several decades of acting he's been in hundreds of projects, but only 1 or 2 that anyone would actually care about or have actually seen. Homicide Life On the Street is the one indisputable quality piece (and he left the show halfway through). And I wouldn't bu surprised if Homicide Life On the Street never got a good airing on UK TVs.

He DOES look like his brothers though (especially Stephen I think).

I had only heard of Fatman (used to dance to his song), Stephen Baldwin, Jenna Jameson and obviously Janice Dickinson. The rest? Not a scooby!!

I think apart from Jenna and Daniel the other Americans won't be famous over there either.

Begs the question why she'd appear in CBB for a pittance.

I don't think it ever got a prime time slot when it was shown on Channel 4

I wouldn't mind seeing it again though

I was thinking the same when they kept saying how famous she is and I think she refers to herself like that too, this time the crowd had it right as they chanted "Who Are Ya?" They should've chanted it a few more times as I don't know who these Americans are, but do think with their elevated view of just how famous they are it might make for good tv.
