    Golden brown texture like sun
Lays me down with my mind she runs
    Throughout the night
    No need to fight
Never a frown with golden brown

    That one is about heroin.

Rich Hall used to do a whole routine about Jailhouse Rock:

"Warden through a party in the county jail"

    As wardens do.

The prison band was there and they began to wail

Prisons often do have bands, what with all the musical instruments they've got lying around in penal establishments.

Number 47 said to number 43,
You're the cutest jailbird I ever did see

    :eek::eek:

I notice Fender101 has gone very quiet after twice demanding I explain a song lyric to him...

possibly because your explanation was just stating the obvious. In which case proves the futility behind the whole song and it's "message".
An old one is Thin Lizzy's "Jailbreak":

"Tonight there's going to be a jailbreak,
    Somewhere in this town..."

If you forced me to guess, I think the JAIL is probably the first place they should check out...

That is brilliant. I'd never really noticed that before. :D

I don't care why he did it, the lyrics still suck. They are just as bad if not worse than Starships. Saying that, this is the first verse of starships

They don't suck, they're brilliant nonsense lyrics (imo). You seem to have no appreciation of the surreal - not a criticism, some people don't.

I'm suprised nobodys mentioned Yes. The musics great but most of Jon Andersons lyrics are complete gibberish

    Roundabout

    I'll be the roundabout
The words will make you out 'n' out
I spend the day your way
Call it morning driving thru the sound and in and out the valley

In and around the lake Mountains come out of the sky and they stand there. One more mile well be there and ill see you.

    Yours Is No Disgrace

Yesterday a morning came, a smile upon your face.
Caesar's palace, morning glory, silly human race,
On a sailing ship to nowhere, leaving any place,
If the summer change to winter, yours is no disgrace.

Battleships confide in me and tell me where you are,
Shining, flying, purple wolfhound, show me where you are,
Lost in summer, morning, winter, travel very far,
Lost in musing circumstances, that's just where you are.

That's just two songs and I haven't even started on Tales from Topographic Oceans.

But I can say that about any nonsense lyrics then. Why is it that I Am The Walrus is brilliant with it's nonsense lyrics, but some other songs with nonsense lyrics are trash? Not saying you said that, it's just a question.

So you were annoyed because you thought it didn't make sense, and now you're annoyed that it does.

If it was so 'obvious', it doesn't say much for you that you were the one who couldn't make sense of it and had to twice demand it be explained to you.

    The Promise
    Here I am, walking Primrose
Wondering when I'm gonna see you again
So here I am, walking Primrose
Wondering when I'm gonna see you again

    and my personal favourite;

    Untouchable
Whenever you're gone (gone) they wait at the door
    And everything's hurting like before
Without any meaning, we're just skin and bone
    Like beautiful robots dancing alone
Whenever you're gone (gone) they wait at the door
    And everything's hurting like before
Without any meaning, we're just skin and bone
    Like beautiful robots dancing alone

What's that about your Robots love?

    Great tunes though!

The promise I always thought they just picked a type of flower to describe the 'woman' in the song, as it's her perspective... and Untouchable... well if you're without feeling/meaning, you're practically a robot - and if you're on your own your just casually dancing through life.

Maybe I'm just using my imagination too much but that's how I interpreted it aha :p

And someone should tell Adele that you cannot, in fact, set fire to rain, and as an image it makes no sense at all

To be fair, Adele has said before that that lyric doesn't make sense but she liked the thought of it.

    couple of oldies

    Hole in My Show (Traffic)

I looked in the sky where an elephant's eye
Was looking at me from a bubblegum tree
And all that I knew was the hole in my shoe
Which was letting in water (letting in water)
    (letting in water)

I walked through a field that just wasn't real
With one hundred tin soldiers which stood at my shoulder
And all that I knew was the hole in my shoe
Which was letting in water (letting in water)
    (letting in water)

(Narration: I climbed on the back of a giant albatross
What flew through a crack in the cloud
To a place where happiness reigned all year round
And music played ever so loudly)

I started to fall and suddenly woke
And the dew on the grass had soaked through my coat
And all that I knew was the hole in my shoe
Which was letting in water (letting in water)
    (letting in water)

Pictures Of Matchstick Men (quo's first hit)

When I look up to the skies
I see your eyes a funny kind of yellow
I rush home to bed I soak my head
I see your face underneath my pillow
I wake next morning, tired, still yawning
See your face come peeping through my window

Pictures of matchstick men and you
Mirages of matchstick men and you
All I ever see is them and you

    Windows echo your reflection
When I look in their direction now
    When will this haunting stop?
Your face it just won't leave me alone

Pictures of matchstick men and you
Mirages of matchstick men and you
All I ever see is them and you

You're in the sky and with the sky
You make men cry, you lie
You're in the sky and with the sky
You make men cry, you lie

    Pictures of matchstick men and
Pictures of matchstick men and you
    Pictures of matchstick men ....
