  Try Dentinox teething gel.
  
  Rub a cold finger over the tooth, it's meant to be good for numbing the area for a while.

  It's always so much worse for them at night! Only hope I can offer is that should calm down a bit in a week....My little boy only seems to teeth in weekly cycles....we are on the last four molars at the moment and I'm sorry to say these seem to be the worse four!
  
  Not maybe possible for his cot but something to chew on seems to help my little one,

  We used some kind of camomille(?) teething satchets which helped.

  ambesol (preferred the liquid version), ashtons power, give them a frozen gel toy to chew on.

  You can get bickipegs, they are very hard like biscuits shaped a bit like a peg..you can put them in the fridge for coolness or not if the child prefers.

  There is also medised, a child pain killer, my cousin used it (i have never tried it) and apparently she used it at night as it helped her child sleep. However some people are quite against this medication.

  I used Ashton and Parsons teething powder for my son. I had little problem with teething so not sure if it was the powder or my son just not as bothered about it.

  I swore by Medised but I think it is now only sold for the over-twos.

  Over six now! Tried to buy some in Boots the other week, was really annoyed as the boxes they had left out still had 'over two' on it......
