Settings when viewing pictures?

Hey,
When I click the 'Next' arrow when viewing pictures (on Windows Photo Gallery), the 'Next' picture I'm taken to is the picture directly below the one I'm viewing (so it's going down the columns rather than along the rows when viewing). Is there a way to stop this and return it to viewing the next picture across instead?
It's not a huge deal I know but it's not so helpful when pictures are in alphabetical order!
