After years of ppl saying Taxi driver is brilliant scorseses finest film I gave it a watch couple of months back...Sorry to say I wernt that impressed. Thought it was very slow ,decent shoot out at the end though 5/10.

I'm not sure you were properly briefed on it beforehand because you seem to have been expecting an action movie.

There are films, like Cuckoo's Nest that I really ought to watch but I find myself watching Red Heat on TV for the umpteenth time again-maybe I just don't fancy seeing them enough to make the effort to concentrate, especially late at night.

I'm the same. I feel like I need to watch movies before it get's dark, in order to give it my full concentration.
Like you, I end up watching endless repeats of T2 (not that I mind:D) when it gets late at night.

To be honest your probably right I was expecting an action movie or at least more action than 1 shootout at the end .

My mum gave me Gone with the wind over two years ago, only watched it for the first time just over six months ago. Part of the reason was the run time. While Im not a busy person, devoting over 3 and a half hours of your life isnt always easy. Also having access to my mums telle (she has a way bigger one then, I didnt want to watch on a 15inch) and being in the right mood to sit down for very long movie all comes into it.

However, well worth it, it is super, a complaint Ive read a fair bit is the pacing of the second half, which is slower then the first, but still top notch.

Kill Bill is a similar type of film, i.e. filmed in the wrong order. There are two volumes, which are essentially different versions of the same film.

I watched Goodfellas for the first time a year and a half ago - loved it! Ive watched it at least three times since!:o

Check out Casino by the same director (Martin Scorsese), if you haven't done so already.

It also has main parts played by Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci. Sharon Stone and James Woods, also co-star.

Schindler's List - rented it from video shop twice and never got round to watching it. It ended up being 3rd time lucky.

Goodfella's - I twice started watching this and gave up after an hour both times. That was third time lucky too.

Glad you enjoyed it in the end. It didn't help matters that some DVD releases were pressed on flipper discs, where you had to turn over the disc halfway through the movie.

    Again, I recommend Casino.
