Think that looks likely the way its going i like geoff boycott probably the countries greatest living yorkshireman, always tells it like it is.:)

I shall be watching on sky sports with a listen to tonights phone in if that gets boring i will try test match sofa the online commentary its very lively.:D

Although I've never been much interested in cricket i HAVE always like Boyks, well he's a fellow Yorkie like me so I would do wouldn't I. :p
Although I will be listening to some of the live commentary tonight I do have an option to watch it live if I want but I won't as I'd sooner lay in bed with an audio feed into headphones from my DAB mini radio.

The DAB radio provides excellent coverage with test match special on 5 live sports extra ,but if you are near the computer the test match sofa commentary is much more irreverent and bawdy and well worth a listen.

If i thought geoff boycott would be on more i would listen to test match special more often, saw him play in the early eighties on a ashes tour and seen him play for yorkshire at essex when test players also played lots of county cricket.

Bobby Gould's co-commentary yesterday was spectacular even by his excitable standards.

Newcastle v Manchester City was a very watchable, back and forth game by the sounds of it and during the commentary, Gouldy was getting caught up in the drama. Almost every time Ian Danter commentated on a chance, you could hear Gould ooohing and ahhing Tony Gubba-style in the background. He was getting really exciting, much to the amusement of Dants.

Adrian Durham came up with a great quote at half-time about this: "For anyone who's just tuned in and is wondering, you're listening to talkSPORT and not the radio version of the Adult Channel". :D

I know Gould is a marmite figure but I really enjoyed his co-commentary yesterday. It was nice to hear a co-commentator getting so into a game he was covering, even if his squeals of delight sounded a bit OTT.

It was an incredible torrent of 'oooooh!' and 'aaaah' at every single incident, even just for a throw-in.

It was good fun and much better than listening to Stanley constantly gulping and Matt Sammerface squealing.

Mind you, only Ian Danter was in the stadium. Gouldy was in the talkSPORT studios watching on the monitors!

So let me get this right here, we've got Danter in the Newcastle United ground doing the commentary and Gould sat on his @rse back in London in the studio practically creaming himself at every opportunity even for throw-ins?, ... I find all that disturbingly pathetic for a national radio station.

I know they've paid a lot of money for the audio commentary rights but going over the top like this is laughable.

Completely wrong. Dants, Gould and producer Villa Matt were all on-site at St James' Park. The trio travelled up from the Midlands and back home together.

talkSPORT are ALWAYS on-site at commentary games that are being played in the UK and Ireland and they have a presence at every game they provide reports on which are being played in England and Wales.

Criticise them if you like when they actually are working off-tube by all means but don't make things up!

Here it is , proof, as if proof was needed, of probably the most bizarre, surreal football commentary you are likely to hear in your lifetime or anybody elses .

Gould is so far out he's in another galaxy.

    Or on crack.

    Like everything else, utter,utter,utter,utter,utter garbage.

He does indeed sound like an absolute cretin. Why they employ him is beyond me.

How come they're not in the St James Park press box?, a bit unusual init to be broadcasting alongside the fans?.

I agree, I just don't understand how anyone could call that good, incisive or intelligent commentary, it just sounded like a fan who was on a mobile phone to a mate but broadcasting it on national radio. 5Live have the risible Robbie Savage but Bobby Gould is way worse than him. He sounds like a nice bloke but like his "What d'ya think of that, Adian Durham?" comment when New Zealand scored in a World Cup game, it is simply awful and he should not be commentating on games in my opinion. Leave him on the abysmal Sports Bar.

On other note, the tirade against Matt Forde was well deserved (though the first caller went a bit over the top), the comments about him just coming on air to talk about what he's been eating was funny and the comments about the sports "highlights" were spot on, a pity Fordey couldn't have come clean and said it's because he hasn't enough callers or even no callers to continue the phone-in, it was mentioned that the repeats are on for the last two hours but during a bit of station scanning, I've definitely heard them on much earlier. I notice he runs to his twitter cronies for back-up and reads that garbage out to make himself look good. Utterly atrocious excuse for a phone-in!

Is it terribly difficult these days to buy/hire a digital radio frequency because if it isn't then taking into account how much profit Talksport Radio are making financially if we are to believe them I can't for the life of me understand why companies aren't queuing up to start new sports radio stations.

Who in their right mind would listen to the likes of Parry, Quinn, Forde, Goldstein, Berry, Gough, Irani, Gould, Collymore and Abrahams if there was another station up and running with good presenters and a few less commercials.

TalkSPORT would sink in months, the advertisers would desert and most of the listeners with them, TS must be hoping like hell it never happens.

Imagine that you are just starting to make your name in football with Newcastle United as a centre forward, you are 21, starting to make a few headlines and on the brink of the England national setup.

Then one day you hear a fat useless lump of a sports announcer on the radio called Ian Abrahams proclaim to the great British nation, "He won't score 5 goals this season".

Well?, . . . would you do this for him after that,
    > Abrahams & Andy Carroll

I'd have kicked him in the b@11s.

My name is Matt Forde. I eat pies. Especially Greggs. I think Tony Blair was the greatest peace time Prime Minister. Iraq was a just and legal war. I am a Labour supporter and socialist. I'll invite some of my comedy friends on my show. Where's all my twitter buddies? Oh come on! Hyena laugh(which would drive any sane person to extreme violence) :D

That sums up one of the pie boy's show all in one go. Hey it is better than listening to five hours of him in my opinion!!! ;)
