Ah- Hammer sandwich.
All time comedy great character creation.
He really was one of the good guys; I've never forgotten what a pleasure it was to be that one time in his presence.
RIP Andrew.
Although his career got a good boost out of it though.
(That's me being flippant, although I do feel it's actually his granddaughter who suffered more from that then he did).
I think, and I think most people would agree on this, it's far better for them to maintain a respectful silence.
Very sad news today about Andrew Sachs. Fawlty Towers is one of my favourite BBC sitcoms and Manuel is one of my favourite characters in it. Thanks for all the laughs Andrew. Thanks to dvds, your work (plus the laughs) will be preserved forever.
Is it the one featuring Mrs Richards the deaf battleaxe? I hope so. It is one of my favourites.
Yes, I believe so. It's one of my favourite episodes too.

Except in Scotland.
BBC1 Scotland tomorrow at 5.25 p.m.
Just turned over to watch EE and saw last minute
Didn't know Anyting about this and it wasn't on my virgin tv planner when I checked
How much notice did you expect?
Did you expect the BBC to pop around to your house to let you know?
Agreed. He had one of those voices, alot like Attenborough does, it just always seems to be perfect the way he delivered the dialogue.
I broke out the DVD's today and educated my Daughter. We laughed our heads off!
And the BBC can't be blamed if Virgin do not update their 'planner'
Correction, people here will blame them of course!
Awesome mate. Good job I recorded it earlier using my super deluxe YouView player. I love Fawlty Towers.
Thank you for all the laughs Andrew. You were one of the greats.
What is it with 2016? We are losing so many of the greats.
The Germans or the wedding party eiher of those
He died on the 23rd, so why wasn't it announced on 24th?
Presumably the family wanted a dignified period of mourning, and private funeral without the paparazzi and co following them around asking inane questions and generally being crass.
Good on them I say,
