  If you are using HDMI it depends on your display whether it switches, some do, some don't.

  It's Virgin Media's service that won't be showing Lost, 24 etc.
  
  V+ = TV Drive.
  
  Virgin Media install a TV drive box and you then have features similar to Sky+ with their V+ service.
