Anyone used Bio-Oil?

I'd like to invest in some to use on some scars but it's a bit pricey for me. I wondered if anyone here has used Bio-Oil and whether they've found that it works. Or any other creams/oils that you could recommend? Also, how long before you saw an improvement?

Over priced con definitely. Poundland do their own version called Rescue Oil.

When I was using a physio after a leg op and discussing bio oil and scars, she basically said that it was the action of rubbing and massaging oil into the scar tissue that helped it to break down. You could use vegetable oil and it would have the same impact. It's a long term thing though, you have to keep at it for months to have an impact. So don't worry too much about the brand bio oil, just get hold of some reasonably priced decent smelling oil and get rubbing

That makes sense, I bought some Vaseline lotion with cocoa butter so I'll give that a go. I also bought Home Bargain's version of Bio-Oil called 'Re-Gen' Cream.

It's a fraction of what Bio Oil costs, but as you say, if it's the massaging that makes the difference I'll just make sure to do it daily.

Just to mention she showed me how to do it and you can't be gentle about it, you have to press into the scar tissue a bit and depending on where the scar is it can be kind of uncomfortable. I have 2 scars, one over the knee cap and one above the ankle and the knee one was much more unpleasant to massage hard.

Anyway both have faded considerably over the last couple of years so best of best of luck with it
