Don't reboot the cell, but do a manual search and then select the EE 3G version, it should then connect. Make a call to 150 and if you hear the tone then your connected.
I've had a few issues where suddenly I have no service. Normally I just turn Airplane mode on and off again and I get it back. Never had to do a manual search though.
Also had several Orange users and one T-Mobile user come into my house and they all had full signal right away.
I understand that MVNOs work ok too and I've got a friend visiting next week who's on Virgin so that will be interesting.
It would be interesting to see if smaller MVNOs work too. Don't see why they wouldn't. Is there anyone on say, Vectone or Delight Mobile that has connected successfully to the signal box out there?
Hi, just been on phone to Orange and they told me that the Signal Box doesn't work with the S3, I find this very hard to believe. Has anyone got one working with the S3 and if possible can you post a pic of the phone with full signal next to the signal box thanks.

CS agents talk such s***. Of course it will work with the S3
Yeah they do talk a load of crap sometimes. The Signalbox is just a tiny (20Mw) EE 3G cell. Just like a large 30M tower but much smaller and inside your house. ANY 3G handset (even ones from say, 5 years ago) will work automatically with it as long as its sim is either EE4G, Orange, T-Mobile or an EE MVNO like virgin.

That'll be them getting confused with the signal boost app, which isn't compatible - all you can do is keep calling back until you get someone who's actually been reading the staff briefings.
Has anyone been charged for a box yet ? I spoke to EE business CS on Thursday about buying a box. The CSR said he would add it to my account. The box arrived on Friday and the paper work said paid. We confirm your payment has been received. Mine signal box hd T-Mobile stickers all over it.

Now they are saying that the Signal box will only work with Orange broadband!! The worst customer services ever, I'm off to Vodafone, at least you can buy the Sure Signal box with no questions asked.
I just called up and ordered another signal box. No problems at all!! It seems you do currently have to be on the business side to get anywhere. Still haven't been billed for the first one though. Hopefully I'll only pay for one
I'm struggling with poor quality calls using my signal box, unless my internet connection isn't uploading anything else at all.
The download side is fine, I can hear my callers perfectly. It's the upload side where things seem a bit odd. My upload speed tests at 800kbps. When I'm uploading nothing, callers can hear me fine, and when I monitor the bandwidth at my router, it shows the call is using about 75kbps upload for the call.
However, if I have my online backup running, which uploads at 400kbps, callers report they can hardly hear me, the call breaks up and they only hear every few words. I tested this myself with voicemail.
The odd thing about this is that I'm experiencing these issues before my upload rate is maxed out, for example, call + online backup = about 475kbps, yet my upload speed is 800kbps, meaning I should have over 300kbps to play with, so why is call quality suffering? I've monitored my upload bandwidth during a speed test, and it does happily go up to 800mbps.
I'm hopefully getting Virgin Media on Friday, so should have a much better upload speed, but I still find it odd that the femtocell is struggling when it's got loads of upload bandwidth to play with. Any ideas?
to the last poster I moved from Virgin Media back to BT because their broadband consistently didn't work - for months on end we were getting less than 10% of the download speed and upload varied between 0.1 and 5mb to the point I was always getting "poor network connection detected" status messages in LiveMeeting, Office Communicator and the like - this is by no means unique and you'll find hundreds of other Virgin customers with the same problems on their web based customer forums.
On the related point - even though we've now got a stable 15Mb upload on BT, our EE Femto also seems to struggle with voice quality with a number of callers commenting that our voices fade out on long calls - even when within a few metres of the femto. Not sure if it's therefore a femto issue rather than a broadband issue.
has anybody managed to order one as a Orange Non Business customer?
I got one on tmobile. By ringing up EE support rather than tmobile and speaking to device escalations. Due to signal being reduced in my area after they turned a mast off. They gave it me for free! And it's coming tomorrow
Desperate for one of these, girlfriend is pregnant so quite important I keep in contact with her, and for her family to contact her. Getting no ware with orange residential. Any tips?

I have been trying to get one for weeks. Seems like you can only get them if you are a business customer or have been affected by their network optimisation when orange merged with t-mobile (which I'm not, I just have terrible signal regardless). Sucks!
They can't seem to tell me when it will be available for anyone else either.
Since it is free to call them on 150 I try again every few days...
It does say on the Orange signal box site that it will eventually be available to all. No help to anyone now though.
If they weren't locked and registered to a particular user I could buy them and sell them to you but they are and I can't. Besides, I think they may get suspisious when I rang up for the 5th one
If i phone EE and manage to get one(i'm an EE pay monthly customer) will this mean that others in my house on Orange will be able to use it?
Yes. Just like the macro network ANY EE4G, Orange or T-Mobile handset will work with it. It behaves exactly the same way as a 20 metre EE macro tower.
Also any MVNO (virtual network) will work. We know Virgin mobile handsets work with it but I guess all the smaller MVNO's should work too. I think EE have about 22 of these most of which we have probably never heard of but just as an example Vectone and Delight Mobile are small EE MVNO's. these should work too.

Thanks for your answer I phoned them but the guy gave me the answer about being in an area where performance has decreased because of the merge etc, he said later in the year they will be going on general sale.

How do you do a manual search and select 3G?
On the iPhone it's in Settings > Carrier.
Thanks bud
