I watch it at US pace and while I enjoyed the first few seasons, Abby has just gotten worse in the way she treats the children so I just feel bad for them now.
I love Dance Moms, even though I admit at times it makes me feel uncomfortable.
Abby is a harridan, but to be honest, there's a lot of dance teachers like her - top dancers didn't become top by their coaches/teachers being nicey-nicey. The dance-world is a tough place, and to succeed kids need to develop a thick skin from a pretty young age. Underneath the toughness though, and off camera, I think she really does care for the kids.
Now the Moms - that's a different picture! Without their (often) vicious input, Abby would probably be kinder to the kids, but let's be honest, the show would be boring ..... just a strict teacher coaching the kids who then win at competitions!
I'm sure a lot of the arguing, shouting and general Mom-bullying, if not actually scripted, is at least 'led' by the producers.
