I'll pause the Rockford Files for you.

Only mild, Davidstow cheddar
On white, bit of marg?
1, 2 or 3 slices?
Tanned or burnt offering?
Bit of mayo or mustard on the side, got some Dijon if you fancy it?

Oh suit yourself then.
I'll get some more peach Cider while I'm there...

I am weird with cheese on toast.

I make the toast first, butter it, then put the cheese on it unmelted :o

2 slices of thick white bread, lightly golden toasted, proper butter and strong Cheddar (unmelted) and sprinkled with black pepper.

Together with a cup of tea, one sugar and milk - and I'm in Heaven!

Toast the bread first 2/3 slices of whatever is around. Grate lots and lots of chedder cheese then cover the bread completely. Stick it under the grill until the cheese bubbles and goes orange. Taste the sex.

Oh yes, do the toast first then cheese on top, only way, only way.

That was nice actually, bit too much mustard.
Hour later and I'm getting peckish again...

Thinking about soft boiled eggs couple slices of bread, grate some cheese mix in with the eggs, melts nicely.
First night in a week I haven't made a bread pudding, no wonder I'm hungry.

Davidstow counts as mature, not super strong though.
Get what's there or go without then!
Oh I don't know, some people, moon on a bleed'n stick (wanders off muttering).

    White bread, yes

Butter, no (what are you ****... oh right, DS forums. Better check that finger nail length tomorrow)

Cheese, yes. Any, even plastic cheese. You can't taste the difference

Brown sauce, yes (choose your brand). Splash it all over!

    Combine under grill. Done!

No more poseurs allowed with their so-called recipes!

    Mature cheddar (any decent make)
Bread to be lightly toasted on one side.
Cheese goes on top, a slight hint of butter is spread on there and it's finished by a generous amount of freshly ground black pepper.
    Under the frill until bubbles.

For a difference, place some thinly sliced fresh tomato or onion under the cheese.

Finish with the sauce of your choice. I prefer brown sauce if I have tomato underneath and tomato sauce if it's onion.

Thanks for putting the idea into my head! I've been doing well not having cheese on toast for a while!

But I like it on white bread, toasted lightly then sprinkle grated cheese on top with some black pepper and cayenne. Delicious!!

    1. I like two pieces of lightly toasted bread with a scraping of butter
    2. a generous sprinkling of grated cheddar cheese on top of the toast
    3. four thin slices of tomato on the top of the cheese on each piece of toast
    4. a dusting of the herb basil on top of the tomato
    5. put under the grill

    Yummy :p

A variation - grate cheese into a bowl and mix with a little milk, salt and pepper. Spread this mixture onto untoasted bread then pop under grill - only toasting the side with cheese on. Slide onto a plate (it's a bit soft) and eat with knife and fork. Commonly known in our house as 'sloppy cheese on toast' - Delish! :D

Toast bread under grill on one side.
Turn over a spread on brown sauce.
Loads of cheese, grated or sliced
    Slash of worcestershire sauce
    Grill till brown bubble appear.
    Eat and DONT share!!!!!!!

Toast one side, put cheese on the other side, make sure it covers the bread almost completely so it doesn't burn, toast it until it's turned orange and it's got crispy bits. Don't worry if outer part of toast burns, the bit under the cheese is fine. Oh, and it's cheddar cheese I tend to use on cheese and toast but Red Leicester works well as well.

That's generally the way I do 'em, don't put anything on them but I like to dip them in mayonnaise.

Question for the OP, where do you get your marg from? I didn't think that you could buy it in the UK but I could be wrong. Plus the fact that you may not reside in the UK, okay disregard this post.

    Toast the bread
    Layer cheese on top
Splash on some sweet chilli sauce
Grill, grill, grill til the cheese is bubbling and the chilli sauce is all mingled with the goo

had this for dinner last night after driving half way across the country and back.

Just toast bread, stick cheese on top melt. My o/h grated the cheese first though never done that before I've always just sliced it and bunged it on top
