One of my favourite films is "Lone Star" starring the late Elizabeth Pena.
Here's a scene from it (set in the eighties) when she plays a song on the 1955/6 Rock-Ola jukebox in her mother's cafe, where the records had not been changed from that time.
If you've not seen this film, it's well worth seeking out. A murder mystery, flitting backwards and forwards in time. With a lot of "relationships stories." Featuring a great cast.
the only ones - another girl, another planet. cant remember the ad from about 10 years ago. actually it was a rediscovery as i had heard it back in the late 70's but forgot about it until the ad.
Most recently, "Paint A Smile On Me" by Black Yaya from the new River Island advert. I vaguely remember it from last year but never really listened to it properly until seeing that advert. I was shocked to see that it wasn't an old song by Noah and the Whale.
The most notable advert song for me was "Don't Upset The Rhythm" by The Noisettes on that car advert - was it for a Fiat?! That advert was everywhere and it's the first time I remember a song being successful pretty much exclusively because of being on an advert.
And thanks to the power of Youtube I ended up watch far to many videos using the sample from that song which is the Iena Polka, the wierdest of all has to be Holly Dolly from 2006 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79zW2tNXMGQ
