"Horns"

Daniel Radcliffe's outing as a slacker accused of murdering is girlfriend is 70% excellent but the last 30% goes way off the reservation.
Ig Parrish is a pariah as a result of the murder case and is pursued by the press wherever he goes. He wakes up after a drunken binge and finds he's sprouting a pair of horns which have a very strange effect on the people he meets.
Alexander Aja seems to specialise in comedy/horror/thrillers and he gets it mostly right here but loses his grip somewhat.
Daniel Radcliffe practices his American accent, Juno Temple gets her kit off: all's right with the world.:)

This work was originally seen for advice. The company was advised that the film was likely to receive an 18 certificate but that their preferred 15 classification could be achieved by making cuts to reduce a scene of sexual violence and to reduce a very strong gory image. When the film was submitted for formal classification, edits had been made and the film was classified 15.

Which is enough to put me off it. :o

There's an exploding head which is still quite graphic.
TBH it doesn't need to be a gore movie as it's more of a mystery yarn. Unfortunately the mystery isn't terribly interesting and most people will figure it out about an hour before Daniel Radcliffe does.
It's still better than many of the current bunch of haunted house/doll/child/random object movies.

I assume the version available to download isn't this one.

Not neccesarily, Walter Mitty was cut worldwide based on a BBFC preview...

    Really enjoyed this.

I'm not a fan of Daniel Radcliffe, never have been but he is fantastic in this. I honestly didn't think he could be capable of something like this. The best Daniel Radcliffe film i've seen him in. He gets it 100% right and does a superb job with the American accent. The film's based on a book and going by the synopsis i knew this was going to be a weird one and it bloody well is but it's also a good laugh and a great watch! It's basically a black comedy murder mystery with a bit of the occult thrown in.

There's some cracking humour in this and some very funny scenes. Very black comedy-esque. There's also some bloody gore but nothing that bad. A couple of scenes did look like it had been edited so it wouldn't be too graphic.

The scenes involving honesty were one of the best things about the film, in particular the scene between James Remar who plays the dad and Radcliffe was beautifully done. Juno Temple isn't in all that much but she's also good and very believable. I don't think i've seen one Juno Temple film where she doesn't get het kit off!

My only negative is that at 2hrs it's slightly too long and goes OTT at the very end which may outstay its welcome. Just go in with an open mind and you'll have a good time!

Absolutely agree with you here but i'd go 80/20%.

I read the book, I thought it was terrible, really hard to read and all over the place, unformed almost, until the end, then it got interesting. I liked the deep end it went off.

I normally feel the opposite about books.

So I'm hoping the film will be decent, and use the good ideas of the book and turn it into a great film.

I have't read the book. In fact, I didn't even realise the film was adapted from a book. I've just read that there have been cuts made to the UK version of the film, so I will probably wait until I can watch the uncut version online.

I'm glad you liked it even though you're not a fan of Daniel Radcliffe.

I *am* a huge fan of Daniel Radcliffe - to be precise, I think he's the most gorgeous man in the world at the moment, and he is a very good actor - and I also really enjoyed it more than I thought I would. It was absolutely gripping right to the end, with lots of twists and turns and I had no idea how it was going to end.

There have been some films with DR which were not very good, or where he wasn't necessarily the right actor for the part (e.g. Woman in Black) but this was excellent - and it was a brilliantly enjoyable way of showing off his gorgeous masculinity as well :)

I almost always go to see films at Vue on Super Tuesday (with 1/4 off the main price) but this was so good that I might even go back to watch it again without waiting for Tuesday.
