The theme to "Interceptor" was wonderful (a great series, too - I wish they'd bring it back). I also loved the themes to "UFO", "Twin Peaks" and "Robin of Sherwood".
First Born, TV mini-series about 1989.
Fabulous theme by Hans Zimmer who went on to bigger, if not better things.
Would love to get this theme again, but doesn't seem to be available anywhere...
If I can stretch the definition slightly, I would go for a made-for-TV movie: The Canterville Ghost with Sir John Gielgud in the title role. This was made in about 1987 and shown on ITV. Score by Howard Blake (of The Snowman fame). Excellent stuff, sadly not available on CD but you can hear it on various YouTube uploads of the movie.
Dr Who
White Horses
Horse of the Year Show (back when it was prime time viewing on the Beeb)
the old Match of the Day theme (and the old joke "how many Ds in Match of the Day?")
And of course there is the Hawaii 5-0 theme at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AepyGm9Me6w - it incidentally features at the end of Jive Bunny & the Mastermixers' hit That's What I Like
I must of heard the theme tune to the cartoon Phineas and Ferb a million times at home because my kids love the show and I sing along with the theme every time I hear it, surely that's a sign of a great theme tune isn't it.
Dallas
Moonlighting
Hart to Hart
EastEnders
Dempsey & Makepeace
I'm in full rose tinted spec mode now - may have to get my Moonlighting boxset out! Oh to be able to go back to being a child and teenager of the 80s again! Rather than 41 days away from being 40!😢

Exactly. Watch one of the earlier ones for me. 40 isn't so bad. ;-)

I'm not sure I really like the song, but I do enjoy the title sequence.
For older shows I like Kids in the Hall.
For newer shows, I really dig the intros for Terriers and Rubicon.
I agree with these, and have located the Persuaders' theme at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAxvfmGUjuQ&feature=related

White Horses, just epic.
Ah Black Beauty! I can hear it now! I've got the vinyl album version still which has the same music! Happy days!

not often mentioned . It's just the most sensual melancholic haunting melody .

A nod to The Crystal Maze's 'Force Field' aswell. Both by Zack Laurence.
The Channel 4 News theme is fantastic aswell.

I do hope you're right! 30 was traumatic enough!
