    .

I can see that you suffered and struggled to write that for us, but you powered on, through your suffering and struggling to bring us that great review.

Great news, Lexi - the Mayor of the Isle of Dogs would like to give you their (left over) (wo)man of the Millennium Award For Services to Getting Us Mentioned In the Press/Interweb/Anywhere in honour of your suffering struggle, and your struggle against the suffering.

Thanks for making it through the rain.
You kept your point of view
You made it through the rain

    And found yourself respected
    By the others who
    Got rained on too
    And made it through

the terrible struggling and suffering. So brave. So. Very. Brave.

    Suffering:
The first 30mins was filled with Pete telling us how he’s struggling and suffering interspersed with other people telling us how Pete is struggling and suffering. So I’ve nothing whatsoever to say about any of that other than it was a struggle and I suffered. On to Malta.

    The Malta Connection:
Pete takes his suffering and his entourage to Malta where he is to be honoured. Twice! After greeting and posing with his 'adoring fans', they make their way to the hotel. In the car, Pete tells us he’s there to accept two awards, one for his music and the other ‘for all his charity work in the UK’. Que?? He also says he thinks the Maltese have mistaken him for someone else. It’s an understandable conclusion. After checking out the hotel, he makes his way to the Presidential Palace where a beaming Mayor Dingli tells him he’s a cultural icon and presents him with his certificate of culture and something in a box. Pete shook Mayor Dingli’s hand for the photographs while – we now know - the good citizens of Valletta shook their fists in outrage and stomped off in a fury to take their displeasure out on their keyboards.

Here’s my theory on the Mayor Dingli-Pezza connection:
A couple of months back, Mayor Dingli, sitting in his office musing on ways to boost Summer tourism in Valletta while idly googling the internets, was suddenly blinded by an orange man introducing his tv show. Donning shades, Mayor Dingli watched in fascination. And concluded “Here is a man with nothing to fill his show and here am I, a mayor with my beautiful Valletta, and nowhere to promote it.” “Fate,” he thought, hatching a plan that included a made-up award and an ambassadorship, while reaching for the phone.

On to the music awards where the Prince of Daftness picks up Best International Artist 2013, his first music award in 15 years. “It amazing!” he says. Amazing is exactly what it is. But just to be kind, he does seem to be popular there and he stopped struggling and suffering long enough to tell us that he was feeling the love.

Back in the UK, Pete returns to his suffering theme. It involved painting a room in possibly the most inept manner I have ever seen and ended with, you’ve guessed it, more struggling and suffering. Enough.

    ...................................................................

The only tiny bright spot came at the end when they trailed Ep.3 and CP, with an expression like a waspbite, reported indignantly to Pete that the good citizens of Valletta were revolting against his ambassadorship. It might be funny to watch. On the other hand, judging by tonight’s episode, the struggling and suffering, if it continues, may actually kill you.

    Lmao excellent imagery Lexi :D:D:D

I may well be feeling oversensitive tonight (t'is my 24th birthday tomorrow, my second without my lovely mummy, who died just after she turned 54 in August 2011), but I cried during Peter Andre: My Life tonight. Twice. :o

I cried when he was in the car talking about visiting his brother (which was not shown on camera - although it is slightly sad that that needs to be pointed out), and I cried towards the end. Whether or not it is morally correct, attention-seeking, whatever, to have it all publicly filmed, he was very clearly devastated whenever this was filmed (mid-February?) and I think, especially at the end, he didn't have a clue what to do with himself at all. Whether or not we agree with him choosing to be filmed throughout this, he is also just a reasonably young guy who has recently lost his brother, and I felt very very sad for him watching it. When he was talking in the car and so upset, it reminded me very clearly of the grief we felt soon after losing my mum, and I would not wish that on anyone.

So that is my [over-]analysis over tonight's show, although as I say, I may just be oversensitive tonight, what can I say? :p

As an aside...Best International Artist? Really? :o

I expect if he'd never referred to it at all he'd be regarded as being 'cold' and 'unfeeling'. In the eyes of his detractors it really looks like he can't win whatever he does.

There is a marked difference between being cold and unfeeling and merely making little or no mention of the illness and death of his brother.

Personally, I believe if he was really as upset as he made out, he would have refused to have the cameras present.

Of course, he wouldn't profit from that..

    :tu:

It seems as though the plot outline for pretty much every episode is:

    Pete suffers.
    Pete goes on Holiday.
Pete mucks around in the studio, singing/rapping about his suffering.
    Pete goes on Holiday.
Pete's children play around while everyone says what a great dad he is, while totally missing the irony in saying that about any parent who is willing to exploit their children for TV.
Pete appears at some function where everyone miraculously loves him and he reminds us all how much he loves his fans.
    Pete goes on Holiday.
    Credits roll.

How awful to lose your Mum at such a young age. I'm sorry for your loss Smithy.
The show will touch anyone who has lost someone they care about. I think that's kind of the point in him doing it - to connect to others. He has a lot of fans who he seems to get close to and they want to get close to him. They want to know about his private life, about his family, they welcomed Andrew with open arms at events & on twitter. I don't think the motivation is money, as some here believe.

Excellent :) his first music award in 15 years  and still the penny hasnt dropped
Grief...a terrible place to be, not imo a time where people should struggle to maintain a stiff upper lip, but not a time they should commercialise either :(

I am even more convinced that PA feels nothing beyond friendly affection for Emily after last night...she is hanging out for attention and acknowledgement from him but she just is not getting it. I can see her walking sometime...PA is so detached, a very lustless relationship.

Heart goes out to you Smithy, hope today's bearable - I know how special days stir up memories and it's hard.

Agree with you that he looked devastated and I think the concert filming must have been mid-end January. I can understand why he completed the tour both for his fans and to make sure all the team employees didn't lose out financially but feel uncomfortable that he had the extra pressure of being filmed.

It reminds me of an earlier series where he had to have his emergency kidney op mid-tour and his management congratulated themselves on only having to re-schedule one show while Carl was the only person who seemed concerned that Pete was on stage bleeding internally. I know he's an adult and it's his choice but I think sometimes you need the people around you to say it's ok to stop and take a break.

I wished they'd showed more of the Malta trip as it looked sunny and beautiful and he was able to have a good laugh with the lovely Emily. I hope, for his sake, that the rest of the series will focus more on the 'getting on with it' side rather than the suffering and sadness, not that there's anything wrong with sharing your grief.

Anyway HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Hope it's a good one :)

Sorry, can't agree. I know there's comparisons with how he behaved on screen with Kate but they were both in the industry and played up for the cameras. Emily isn't and I think the reason he acts so hands-off around her is because he wants to keep their relationship as private as is possible whilst being filmed for a reality show. She seems really genuine and caring and very good for him so I hope it works out for them.

    Excellent Lexi:D

I did catch one funny moment whilst channel flipping. Pete was asked to pick up the sofa and help move it. It was a struggle as his friend dragged it through the door and Pete following uttering those famous words "I did nothing":D:D:D Either he is inept or totally lazy.

Looking forward to episode 3 and the revolting..

More selfless than hilarious if the review is an accurate depiction of the programme - and I suspect that Lexi was being somewhat restrained so as not to offend too many people.
Still,I imagine it's still infinitely preferable to being compelled to Google 10 year old porno pictures of KP just to get your Outrageometer up to speed.
