If you follow the advice given in post #9 you would not be deleting the partition, so no. I don't know the utility RoL mentions but it appears to be just moving stuff around without deleting the partition.
All the same, it would be advisable to back up the data on your D drive to an external drive in any case, in case (like most of the rest of us have in the past) you make some mistake.
Edit: chrisjr beat me to it and more or less said the same thing, though rather more pointedly than I would have done. And backing up just once should be enough, since it's only a short term measure while you do the magic. But then think carefully how you are going to make sure your data is going to be safe in the future.
