Completely indifferent. If they're happy it's no one else's business.

i find it a bit odd but having said that i have a friend with a houseful of dogs who says stuff like "yes vee, your dad will be home soon" or "fang, leave your sister alone" and it doesn`t seem weird at all.

I am mum and my husband is dad and they are sisters to each other even though one is a Labrador and one a Chihuahua. Don't see the problem obviously myself and would have thought most people would have more to worry about than what I call my dogs

    Another cat "mummy" here.

Also Mummy to actual children as well.... but I draw the line at telling my son my cat is his sister!

My family have always done that when we've had dogs. And I would now if I had one - or a cat. And I make no apology for it :)

    :)

Actually when I was young and we had cats I was 'Little Mummy', my older sister was 'Big Mummy', my Mum was 'Feeding Lady' and my dad was 'Boss Man'!

That probably was a bit weird but I blame my mum as she came up with it!

People who do that are weird.

Even worse are the people who call animals by surnames.

Its common sense, when the kids are shouting 'daddy' and 'mummy' that is the name the dog thinks we are, so yes, he knows all the kids names and then 'our' names.

I'm Daddy to my cat. And?

If that's all you have to worry about then I'm jealous!

I'm the grandpa to my cats technically, as they 'belong' (as much as any cat can) to my children. My daughter loves being the cats' mummy. Long may they be her only babies, with her being a student still. She only comes home to visit the cats I reckon.

You beat me to it. That's exactly what I say to my pets too. I even say they are my hairy hot water bottle, when they snuggle up beside me.:)

Arggghhhh! I HATE this! It's cringeworthy!

We have a friend, big strapping heterosexual rugby fan who is none-the-less a cat fanatic. When he came round recently, he said to our cat "go and see your daddies".

It was nearly the end of a long and wonderful friendship.

I find it a bit weird but it doesn't annoy me, unless it's constantly "Mummy loves Patch" statuses or something.

My godsons mother once told the dog he wasnt allowed on the bed at the same time as the baby. I swear she said " you know you arent allowed when your brothers here."

I was flabbergasted. She just said "what?, if im his (the dogs) mum, then charlie is his brother. That makes you the dogs godfather too." :o

really didnt know how to reply to that, and i still dont.
