As I understand it the judges get to vote off their least favourite from their group to go.
So, if the judges already have a favourite, they'll just keep being saved until the final, won't they?
So what impact do the public voting have until the final stage?

dunno. good point.
Like, I remember another version of the Voice made the judges split 100 "points" in between two people. Like 60-40. And the person with 60 would have a higher chance at the final or something.
Ruth Brown is easily final 4.
Unless Adam is uber amazing and can stop her.
I get the feeling that Tom has already decided his winner, starting to feel like she is being set up to win.
I think you're right about Ruth.
In my honest opinion, Adam shouldn't be there after week one. I don't think he will be one to beat.
But want: Adam/Ruth, Vince, Max/David/Bo, Tyler
I think Tyler will make the cut over Jaz based on Saturday's performance. Jaz blew me away in his audition (both songs) but that song (and I love At Last) just didn't give him the chance to do the same. I found it hard to judge acts based on the battle rounds other than to say which was better so not really taking that into account, with the exception of Becky who actually gained me as a fan with her version of Beyonce.
Not according to the T&C's, it's not a straight public vote till the final.
And the semi-final even says they will decide how it works later, and can be any combination of anything. Depending on how the voting is going of course.
It all looks very dodgy, especially where Tyler is concerned and the huge Amy Winehouse marketing exercise that has been going on.
How when there are 2 left in each team can it be anything other than a public vote?
Unless there is no public (and then no money generated) and the coaches simply pick out of 2, 1 to go through
The way it works in other countries (and presumably will do here) is that the semi-final voting is split between judge allocated points and public voting. Each team has 200 points. The first 100 points are split between the two contestants by their judge however they like. So 50/50, 60/40, whatever. The next 100 points are split between the contestants using the public vote. So if you got 55% of your team's votes then you'd get 55 points, etc. Then the points are added together and the one with the highest total goes through. I think it's a horrible way of doing it but that's what they do.
So the judge can have quite a big impact. Splitting the points 60/40 or more basically guarantees the one going through.
From the BBC website:
Basically "We'll make it up as we go along, depending on if the public are voting the way we want them to".
This is what happens when a record company is involved
It all depends on the coaches as individuals and what they see their roles as.
Doesn't stop XF, all it does is cause controversy and get people talking. Although even XF has only been as brazen as trying to force one person into the final once. The Voice seems happy to do it for 4 in their very first series.
The coaches aren't calling the shots, the producers are for the characters (like cannon-fodder Sam) and Universal for the marketing and money-making potential (like Tyler and Universal's plans to further milk their dead recording artist).
1. Ruth
2. Tyler
3. Vince
4. Max
It's why people were baffled at some of the choices of the finalists, they were put through to be kicked out. Just like XF really, just more subtle.
No one really minds not winning but no-one wants to be off in the first week. So certain acts are selected who are obviously poorer than the rest and just grateful to be in the 'Lives' at all.
There is rarely a shock exit in week one.
Team Will: Frances
Team Tom: Ruth (Adam if Ruth peaked to soon)
Team Danny: David
Team Jessie: Becky
What was her name again?
Does rather throw a spanner in the works when you present the show as being about the best of the best though. The wheels have sort of been falling off The Voice as it goes along trying to keep up the pretense.
You also take the tension away when it's all so obvious, and tension is one thing the show was sorely lacking this weekend.
No straight public vote till the final will only make matters worse.
Well, Universal brought Tupac back from the dead as a hologram! Tyler and Holographic Amy duet for the final?
I think they could actually be that tasteless
You mean Billie Holiday?
