How can 'OHMSS' be a ****take as it follows the novel more closely than any other Bond film?!

I haven't read the novels and don't intend to, so for me James Bond is just a range of films. I remember watching OHMSS and thinking it was really unlike the earlier bonds, almost weird at times.

The film with Lazenby was very odd, I thought it was a **** take.

    Can't recall much of Dalton.

    Brosnan was okay, nothing spectauclar.

Craig is a bit too hench to play Bond.

Not using Moore in the same sentence as pisstake is indeed taking the piss. :D

Gotta be our Dan, as he could easily 'have' any of the others Bonds.

I mean, two pensioners, two no-marks and Mr Mamma Mia?

He could sort 'em out all at once, frankly.

To be fair I thnk they all gave it a decent shot. Lazenby wsa probably most out of place but his film, OHMSS, was actually one of the better storylines, with emotional bite alongside the usual action and eye candy. I think, if pushed, I would go for Connery as the best Bond.

I remember the late Desmond Llewelyn once answering this question as whoever you saw first. And that is very true. I grew up watching Roger Moore and Sean Connery playing the part and for me they are the definitive Bonds. Everything else afterwards just seems lacklustre.

I'm odd, I think, in that I don't fit this stereotype. Roger Moore was my first Bond and I loved him as a kid. However now I'm older, I find his Bond films kinda hard to watch. They're just so cheesy and silly. My favourite of his is probably "For Your Eyes Only," as he plays it pretty straight as a spy/assassin.

My favourite Bond is a tie between Dalton and Craig. I think they make Bond more of a character than just a 2-D antihero. Having read some of the books in my teens, I'd say they more resemble the original character than any of the others (though I'd say Connery's first two are on point, too)

Daniel Craig is my favoruite Bond.

Does that shock you? Well, it shouldn't.

    I'd rank 'em:

    Craig
    Moore/Dalton
    Brosnan
    Connery
    Lazenby

Hench? Is that even a word?

I watched a Dalton Bond film the other day, it's weird how he looks so much like Pierce Brosnan.

Well Daniel Craig is the best actor to portray Bond out the the 3 versions of Casino Royale, but I would not put him above Connery or Moore overall.

Pierce Brosnan played the roll perfectly.

Also like Connery and Moores films.

The two Daniel Craig films so far have been absolutely terrible. The new one looks ok in trailers.

Sean Connery IS James Bond, no contest. From Russia With Love is also the best film by far.

I also have a soft spot for Moore's films, except Moonraker which is ghastly. But he definitely stayed way too long (he was 58 in A View To A Kill).

I love Daniel Craig, and I think he is certainly the best Bond since Connery. Dalton had two pretty good films, it's a shame he didn't stay in the role longer. Same goes for Lazenby, I think he had potential to be a great Bond, and OHMSS is probably my second favourite Bond film.

Not a fan of Brosnan, although Goldeneye was superb.

So my order would be: Connery, Craig, Moore, Dalton, Lazenby, Brosnan.

Connery - he defined the role.
Moore - 'my' Bond so will always have soft spot.
Craig - best since Connery, arguably second.
Lazenby - OHMSS is one of my top 5 a shame he didn't do more.
Dalton - one good film, one bad. Too dour.
Brosnan - Goldeneye apart, all too forgettable and starred in the horrible DaD

I realised the other day that Sean Connery made all of his EON Bond movies within 9 years.

I expected it to be a lot longer than that.

Thats because he was making one film every year at first. The first four films were released in 1962, 1963, 1964 and 1965. Then there was a two year gap before You Only Live twice in 1967 which was meant to be his final Bond film. But he returned in 1971 for Diamonds Are forever. he seemed to have aged a bit and looked bigger. Almost like it was ten or fifteen years later. Funny how different Connery looked after just four years away from the role.

Piers Brosnan, for reviving what many people considered a dead franchise and playing it like a combination of Connery and Moore.

He revived it with Goldeneye (which was great), did 2 very average films, and then almost destroyed it with Die Another Day

Beg to disagree with Die, it had a very chilling teaser where Bond is tortured by the North Koreans and the ice mansion was fantastic.

Tomorrow Never Dies and The World is not Enough were brilliant films, not avarage at all.

And Die Another Day hatred just seems to be a band wagon thing recently. It isn't THAT bad. Not as good as his other three but still a good film.

Roger Moore is my favourite because he played it tongue-in-cheek, but Timothy Dalton was probably the most accurate portrayal of Bond IMO.

Brosnan was the slickest; Connery was the coolest & Craig has the most maschismo.

Can't really rate Lazeny as he only did one.

So it's a bandwagon thing because a lot of people have that opinion?

No, seriously.....it is that bad. I left the cinema on day one, before any bandwagon had set off, and thought it was awful. I hated what they'd done. They were just destroying it.

    I'll never watch it again.

TND and TWINE are way down my list.

TND's martial arts doesn't sit well with me, Carver is a really dull villain and Terri Hatcher is totally wasted

TWINE features a character named solely for the purposes of an (awful) joke (or 2) and requires you to believe Denise Richards is a nuclear scientist who spends every day wearing hotpants and a tight top.

For me, Brosnans era crossed the line in terms of excess and double entendre - it became a parody.

I left the cinema before the end of DaD so I can't really be accused of bandwagon jumping, I've watched it since and I still think its the worst Bond ever - from terrible CGI, surfing to TheClash, and invisible cars to the Madonna cameo (shudder).
