I love Simon Gregson as Steve but Is it just me or does anyone else think that as time goes on, Steve MacDonald is starting to look more and more like Fred Elliot? Thoughts??

    Yes, definitely.

If he lost some weight I don't think he would be so scary looking but because he's a fattie he has no neck and just looks like Fred/Uncle Fester.

Wonder what happened to the sudden spate of hat-wearing, that we all thought was to hide a hair transplant? I don't notice any difference in the old hairline. Does that mean the hat really was a style statement

I believe (as has been mentioned
on here) that the hat was to cover
    the recently cropped hair?
    Scenes had to be inserted,mainly
nonsense ones of Steve and lloyd
    in the cab office,talking rubbish,to
fill in the deleted scenes (already
shot) of Bill Roache and/or Michael
leVell. For continuity,as they film about
ten weeks ahead,Steve could not have
longer hair immediately after being shorn!

Aha, it's all about the continuity! Good point timebug.

Midlife crisis coming up as he turns 40, this should be good. :)

Incredible that once upon a time he was considered really good looking and I do believe I may have had a poster of him on my wall when he first joined Corrie. So it's unfortunate to see how quickly he's aged, and sad to see the writers are prematurely turning him into a comical character similar to that of Norris!

I mean, why don't that just write him as a man in his late thirties who owns a pub instead of an awkward bumbling idiot with an old harridan for a girlfriend!

Possibly because most people would find the latter more entertaining than the former...?

I've seen Simon Gregson out and about a couple of times and he is much more handsome and sharply dressed in real life.

Maybe he 'slobs up' for the character?

Stephen will smarten himself up when his dad comes back, so he will. And Elizabeth will have to explain to Jim why Tony is living in the pub, so she will.

...I love Steve's character too and I don't think he is that bad looking, not my cup of tea but he does have nice eyes, I enjoy his humour (yes even the face gurning too) humour can be very attractive, therefore I think he is far too good for Michelle.

I love Steve's character. When he was getting upset about his birthday and thinking back to what he might have been, I actually felt really sorry for him. As opposed to characters who lose their rag all the time, when Steve did it, it was so out of character that it was really quite unsettling!

I hope he stands by his speech and shows his serious side more often instead of just becoming the local buffoon.
