well the 'braying mob' bit has some truth to it, to be fair, but he goes way too far in his comments there, making it very personal and insulting in nature, not helpful at all to Europe. the guy is a liability.

I agree that he goes way too far and in trying to steal the limelight (again) he has left his brother in the shitter. I now expect Danny to play a bit-part this ryder cup through no fault of his own.

Their is a time and a place for dry humour like this but this isn't the time and National Club Golfer sure as hell isn't the place ...

Read the article, yes was too much at this time.
But lets be honest, who wouldn't want the loudmouth idiots removed from the game?
There is absolutely no need for the yobbish shouting at all and most of it as we know comes from an American mouth.
To much at any time actually. I think this country has more than its fair share of people who indulge in 'yobbish' behaviour. Partisan crowds are not unknown in the UK during past Ryder Cups here!

    Disrespected the Americans basically.

He was quite vocal when his brother won the Masters I remember.

Crikey, he didn't think through the consequences of those words did he?!

I thought the tweets he made during the Masters were brilliant. But clearly the fame went to his head. Bad move.

I still think that Europe will win this for the simple reason that we appear more relaxed whereas as always the yanks appear to be regimented and have far too many ego's in the team and in the backroom staff ... all the pressure is on Team USA.

My pick for the opening foursomes:
    Stenson + Rose
    Garcia + Cabrera Bello
    Kaymer + McIlroy
    Westwood + Sullivan

I think that Thomas Pieters will be the surprise package this Ryder Cup - this guy has all the tools to be a superstar in the next 12 months ... and this course should suit him perfectly.

these opening ceremonies feel a bit pompous and unnecessary to me

this sounds like an oscar speech from clarke

wonder what reception willett will get ?

Just a few boos for Danny Willett there.

Don't want to be unkind to Darren Clarke - public speaking is tricky - but he didn't do a good job of delivering that speech.

Which sort of confirms what his brother was saying.

I didn't think Willet got too much of a bad reception and that was probably pantomime booing anyway. Chris Wood is hidden behind a pillar. Bad stage planning

Europe will build a healthy lead on those pairings. I can see the US winning only the last match. 3-1 Europe.

rose and stenson v spieth and reed

mcilroy and sullivan v mickelson and fowler

garcia and kaymer v walker and zach johnson

westwood and pieters v kuchar and dustin johnson

a little surprised to not see willett in the foursomes but as expected all 6 of the EU team with previous ryder cup experience play in the morning

all of those games look tough to call, would hope rose and stenson can get us off to a good start tho

Some of those pairings seemed rather familiar as they were coming out - and having just checked recent Ryder Cup results, I've figured out the reason why:

Spieth and Reed took 2.5 points from three matches two years ago

Rose and Stenson won all three of the matches they played in 2014

Mickelson and Fowler won all three of the matches they played in 2012
